Is IBuumerang A Scam? (A New Travel Pyramid Scheme!?)

It’s likely that you have come across IBuumerang through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.

Is IBuumerang a scam? The reasons why you’re here is because you have want answers right so, that’s what I’m going to provide for you within this IBuumerang review.

First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to joining IBuumerang. For all you could have known, the product could be a major scam so the fact you’re here right now, researching whether or not that’s the case is a pretty smart move on your part.

To be fully transparent with you, I am personally not a member of IBuumerang so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you it unless of course it’s worth investing in.

What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party look at IBuumerang that will hopefully help you to make the best decision you can in the end.

PRODUCT NAME: IBuumerang

OWNER/S: Holton Buggs and David Manning

TYPE OF PRODUCT: travel MLM

PRICE: $49.95/month + $250 or more for the best packages

SUMMARY: Because the company is so new, it’s hard to say if IBuumerang is a pyramid scheme or a scam however, there are a few negative elements regarding it that wouldn’t make it a company I’d put at the top of my list when it comes to recommending it to people.

The heavy emphasis on recruitment, the really expensive costs to maintain the company at its best value pack, the owners shady past where he actually worked within a now ponzi scheme and the high liklihood that you aren’t going to succeed, even if you did join, are the main reasons why I’d suggest skipping out on IBuumerang.

FINAL RATING: 1.5/5

RECOMMENDED: No

WHAT IS IBUUMERANG?

IBuumerang logo

Ibuumerang is a travel based MLM, previously named Countdown4Freedom, but only in around April 2019 was it officially launched.

Holton buggs

The founders of the company are Holton Buggs (marketing) and David Manning (travel). Holton Buggs is the active chairman & CEO and is someone who’s quite experienced in running a MLM in the past, having worked as Organo Gold’s Chief Visionary Officer.

He also has a history of working with a ponzi scheme, particularly this scam called IQ chain so, this doesn’t make him the most trustworthy of CEO’s and I’m pretty sure you agree with me on that.

So, that’s the basic premise of ibuumerang and it’s somewhat unreliable chairman, it’s a very new company competing in the MLM travel niche alongside traverus, inteletravel evolution travel but, whether or not it’s a good business opportunity to pursue… Well I’ll aim to help you come up with an answer through this review.

IBUUMERANG’S PRODUCTS

As you should know by now, IBuumerang mostly sell travel packages to their customers and this is supplemented through their discount program known as “iGo”.

The company markets iGo as a “travel booking platform allows for up to 70% off retail pricing on travel packages”. The program is also backed by a 110% “refund of the difference” price guarantee on hotels, cars and weekly stays.

The only way to access the iGo system is by becoming a member. In order to access the iGo system and be elligible fo discounts, members will need to acquire “Boomerangs”.

So for example, as a new member, you’ll need to purchase a signup package to get access to the Boomerangs, of course with the more expensive packages providing you with more Boomerangs.

The number of boomerangs you can get from each package are as follows :

  • Standby affiliates ($49.95 a month) receive five boomerangs to give out
  • Coach Class affiliates ($250 + $49.95 a month) receive ten boomerangs to give out
  • Business Class affiliates ($500 + $99 a month) receive twenty-five boomerangs to give out
  • First Class affiliates ($1000 + $99 a month) receive fifty boomerangs to give out

This are also the fees you’ll need to pay if you want to join the company and we’ll, as you can see, they can be very very expensive. Anyways, as for how the boomerangs work, basically what you do is give the boomerangs out to potential customers so they can access the iGo travel search engine.

This allows IBuumerang to track that you were the person who sent these customers to the search engine and ultimately it’ll be how you get paid.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH IBUUMERANG?

As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, IBuumerang being no exception.

1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales

2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

IBuumerang’s compensation plan, as far as I could find, is still the same one from their pre launch name so, don’t get too confused if after checking out the plan, you see the name Countdown4freedom on the pdf file.

Now that this little bit of confusion is out of the way, the company has 6 different ways to get paid and as for the ranking system (which I’ll go over first) there are 14!

In this section I’ll list them all down for you as well as the requirements needed to achieve the ranks just so you know where you’ll be starting if you decided to opt in to this opportunity :

  • TSA : sign up as an iBuumerang member and continue to pay fees
  • Director : generate 2500 PV and/or GV a month in sales volume and generate and maintain at least five boomerang customers
  • Executive : generate 5000 PV and/or GV a month in sales volume and maintain at least five boomerang customers
  • Senior Executive : generate 10,000 PV and/or GV a month in sales volume and maintain at least five boomerang customers
  • Sapphire : generate 15,000 GV a month in sales volume or have a downline of at least 100 TSAs, and generate and maintain at least ten boomerang customers
  • Ruby : generate 40,000 GV a month in sales volume or have a downline of at least 200 TSAs, and maintain at least ten boomerang customers
  • Emerald : generate 80,000 GV a month in sales volume or have a downline of at least 400 TSAs, and maintain at least ten boomerang customers
  • Diamond : generate 200,000 GV a month in sales volume or have a downline of at least 1000 TSAs, and maintain at least twenty boomerang customers
  • Blue Diamond : generate 500,000 GV a month in sales volume or have a downline of at least 2500 TSAs, and maintain at least twenty boomerang customers
  • Black Diamond : generate 1,000,000 GV a month in sales volume or generate and maintain a downline of at least 5000 TSAs, and maintain at least twenty boomerang customers
  • Presidential Diamond : generate 2,000,000 GV a month in sales volume or generate and maintain a downline of at least 10,000 TSAs, and maintain at least twenty boomerang customers
  • Crown Diamond : generate 5,000,000 GV a month in sales volume or generate and maintain a downline of at least 25,000 TSAs, and maintain at least twenty boomerang customers
  • Double Crown Diamond : generate 7,000,000 GV a month in sales volume or generate and maintain a downline of at least 35,000 TSAs, and maintain at least twenty boomerang customers
  • Triple Crown Diamond : generate 10,000,000 GV a month in sales volume or generate and maintain a downline of at least 50,000 TSAs, and maintain at least twenty boomerang customers

So yeah, if you wanted to reach the peak of the iBuumerang pyramid, it’ll take a helluva a long time, especially if you have no idea how to generate leads through effective online and offline marketing.

PV stands for personal volume which is the travel related sales volume generated by a member and  GV is group volume which is the sales volume generated via travel bookings and membership fee payments.

Now let’s move on to the elements of the compensation plan.

Travel Commissions

This section entails the retail sales you’re able to generate per sale however, because you’re a middleman of a middleman per say, the manner in which you make a commission is dependant on the package your potential customer buys.

For example let’s say that a travel package in general would cost $300, through IBuumerang’s iGO, they’ll be able to provide members with a discount of around $100.

This means that as an official IBuumerang member you’d be able to book the said package at $200 however, the normal retail customer won’t recieve the full discount, they’d need to pay an extra $50. So, it’s this commission that’ll be split between yourself and IBuumerang.

The maximum you’d be able to earn from the remaining $50 in this case would be 50% of the full value, so $25 however, the earnings are separated into a few sections which include :

  • Standby and Coach Class members receive 12.5% of the 50% of the 50% ($3.13 out of the $25)
  • Business and First Class affiliates receive 100% of the 50% of the 50% (so the full $25)

The whole travel commission situation is a little complex but that’s how it works. You’ll definitely need to go over the compensation plan multiple times to get an idea of how this particular commission works but, as it stands now, what I’ve said is pretty much the gist of it.

Recruitment Commissions

IBuumerang pay their members commissions for getting people into their team through their sign up bonus. As for how much you get paid per new referral :

  • recruit a Coach Class affiliate and get paid $20
  • recruit a Business Class affiliate and get paid $40
  • recruit a First Class affiliate and get paid $80

Residual Commissions (binary)

The first way to make residual income is through the binary structure that IBuumerang uses.

These kind of structures are split into 2 different sections, a left and a right leg. So at the top of this structure (which is you) you’ll be able to recruit 2 members and in the second level your 2 recruits will be able to do the same and so on, therotically the two legs could go on forever.

In this case, the binary residual commission are made on the booked travel and the monthly fees that a direct downline member needs to pay.

At the end of each week iBuumerang tallies up the new volume on both sides of the binary team and pays you the residual income based on the volume that the weaker of the 2 sides generated.

As for how much a member can earn through the binary residual commissions, this will be dependant on what rank you are within the company :

  • TSAs can earn up to $1000 a week (10% residual commission rate)
  • Directors can earn up to $1500 a week (12% residual commission rate)
  • Executives can earn up to $2000 a week (12% residual commission rate)
  • Senior Executives can earn up to $2500 a week (12% residual commission rate)
  • Sapphires can earn up to $3000 a week (15% residual commission rate)
  • Rubies can earn up to $5000 a week (16% residual commission rate)
  • Emeralds can earn up to $10,000 a week (17% residual commission rate)
  • Diamonds can earn up to $20,000 a week (18% residual commission rate)
  • Blue Diamonds can earn up to $30,000 a week (19% residual commission rate)
  • Black Diamonds can earn up to $50,000 a week (20% residual commission rate)
  • Presidential Diamonds can earn up to $100,000 a week (20% residual commission rate)
  • Crown Diamonds can earn up to $150,000 a week (20% residual commission rate)
  • Double Crown Diamonds can earn up to $200,000 a week (20% residual commission rate)
  • Triple Crown Diamonds can earn up to $250,000 a week (20% residual commission rate)

From this, it’s quite clear to me that IBuumerang really wants you to recruit a lot for them, otherwise why would there be soo many different ranks if you get where I’m coming. If you think about it, to simplify the whole ranks system wouldn’t it be better to have fewer ranks but, that’s exactly why there’s so many ranks (so you can recruit more for them)

It makes it so the company can get people to think as if they’re not at the top yet and need to strive to reach it, which in turn means that these people will buckle down and 10x their work ethic to get their numbers up and achieve the highest ranking within ibuumerang.

Residual Commissions (unilevel)

This structure is a little different to the binary structure as in unlike a binary structure you can actually have an infinite number of people within each level. For example anyone you recruit directly will fall under the first level, any of your direct referrals will be in the second level and so on until the 7th level as that’s where IBuumerang caps this particular commission.

The commissions you earn is made up of booked travel and affiliate fees and as for what you can earn and how deep, in terms of levels that you’ll be able to earn from, that’ll be dependant on your rank :

  • TSA : 10% on level 1
  • Director and Senior Director : 10% on levels 1 and 2
  • Executive : 10% on levels 1 to 3
  • Sapphire : 10% on levels 1 to 3 and 8% on level 4
  • Ruby :10% on levels 1 to 3, 8% on level 4 and 7% on level 5
  • Emerald : 10% on levels 1 to 3, 8% on level 4, 7% on level 5 and 6% on level 6
  • Diamond and higher : 10% on levels 1 to 3, 8% on level 4, 7% on level 5, 6% on level 6 and 5% on level 7

Leadership Development Bonus

This bouns is a generation bonus, paid on up to four generations of residual volume per unilevel team leg. A generation is defined as when a unilevel leg manages to gain a sapphire rank or higher member.

This first Sapphire member starts the first generation for that leg. If a second Sapphire exists deeper in the leg, they cap off the first generation and a second begins under them. If no second Sapphire exists in the leg, the first generation runs the entire length of the leg.

Using this structure, iBuumerang pays the Leadership Development Bonus on up to four generations per unilevel team leg :

  • Sapphires earn 2% on up to one generation per leg
  • Rubies earn 3% on up to two generations per leg
  • Emeralds earn 4% on up to three generations per leg
  • Diamonds and higher earn 5% on up to four generations per leg

Lifestyle Bonus Pool

There isn’t any information on this particular method so I can’t tell you how it works. I just know that it is a way you’ll be earn money through IBuumerang although I doubt most will ever be able to qualify for it. I say this because there’s a very high chance that the lifestyle bonus pool will only apply to the few highest ranking members.

If you’re still struggling to grasp the compensation plan as a whole, I’d suggest either checking out their prelaunch/current compensation file by clicking here or you can just view the video below, which hopefully should help you out with this.

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS

There’s A Huge Focus In Recruitment And Ultimately It Will Determine Whether You Succeed Or Not

If you actually read the components of the plan I’ve written above as well as just seen how many different ranks there and the requirements to qualify for them, it should be pretty obvious to you that IBuumerang wants you to invest a lot of your time recruiting other people as opposed to just making sales.

I’d even go so far as to say that without being a great recruiter, you definitely won’t succeed with this business. So you either need to become very good at face to face recruitment or even lead generation methods online or simply look into a better business model and opportunity to pursue.

Moreover, you also have to learn how to generate leads that target people who are genuinely interested (my #1 reccomended product can help you with that) instead of doing what’s suggested by most of these MLM’s that want you to recruit family members or friends (which I do not recommend).

By recruiting family or friends you’re not really targeting individuals who joined because they saw the business opportunity as something worth pursuing but purely out of pity. Of course there are a few  other reasons why I’d advise you not to pursue this business opportunity as whole anyways, which I’m going to discuss in the next few sections.

It’s Very Expensive To Maintain The Membership

Although there are cheaper options to become a member, in order to gain access to the full scope of the compensation plan you’ll need to spend a staggering $2.3k annually.

That’s hardly an amount most people will br able to afford, especially those desperate and looking to make money quick, which just to put it out there isn’t how you should approach a business anyways. You should always look long term otherwise you’ll probably be disappointed everytime you pursue a different online or offline opportunity.

So yeah, IBuumerang is a very expensive investment, at least from what I can tell on the audience it’s targeting.

The Owner’s Worked Within A Ponzi Scheme In The Past

This is a huge red flag, along with the heavy focus on recruitment and the lack of a truly value based MLM. The fact Holtan’s worked within another ponzi scheme in the past is a huge no no in my opinion much like the leading figures I’ve seen of companies (for the most part) who’ve worked with shady companies in the past.

Just this factor alone should be alarming for you because when someone’s been a major part of a ponzi scheme in the past, what’s to say that their current business will be any different.

There’s A Huge Liklihood Of Failure Within MLM’s

This is probably the biggest reason why you should look to another business opportunity to make money because even though the company isn’t very old yet (it’s not even 1 year old), having seen the income cycle that most companies in the MLM sector tend to deal with, such as beautycounter, Scentsy, nucerity, 4life, it’s unlikely that most will even break even, which in this case would be to make $600 in your first year at the very minimum, let alone profit.

The stats from the overall income an MLM member generates tends to be that only around 5% of members make a decent amount of $1k/month whilst only the top 1% within the entire company make over $2k/month, which is roughly around the low end full time income.

So, if you were to measure your chances of success within IBuumerang, it definitely wouldn’t be high.

In fact if the company were to turn out as a pyramid scheme, even if somehow you were able to make it to the top of the company’s ladder, it’d be devastating as you’d have to start from square one with a reputation of having promoted a terrible business previously. It’d be very hard to escape such a label you know.

THE GOOD THINGS

There’s not very much that I’d say is good about the company, I guess being new means that potentially as one of the first adopters of the company, you will likely get a head start over others or even the travel niche in general is an interesting one to pursue.

But, from what I’ve researched of it, IBuumerang is definitely not up there as the best MLM I’d reccomend joining let alone the best business opportunity for you or anyone else out there.

IS IBUUMERANG A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?

Because the company is so new, it’s hard to say if IBuumerang is a pyramid scheme or a scam however, there are a few negative elements regarding it that wouldn’t make it a company I’d put at the top of my list when it comes to recommending it to people.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).

Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.

This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.

The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because

– there is no need to recruit constantly

– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products

– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.

The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask me regarding IBuumerang, feel free to do so in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you have your own thoughts about IBuumerang and would like to talk about it, again feel free to do so in the comments.

Thanks
