Is LifeVantage a scam? The reasons why you’re here is because you have want answers right so, that’s what I’m going to provide for you within this LifeVantage review.

First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to purchasing or joining LifeVantage. For all you could have known, LifeVantage may very well be a scam and rob you of your money so this review could help you find anything peculiar about it.

To be totally transparent with you I haven’t used LifeVantage so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you on it unless of course it’s worth investing in.

What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party review of LifeVantage that will hopefully help you to make the correct decision in the end.

PRODUCT NAME: LifeVantage

OWNER/S: Darren Jensen

TYPE OF PRODUCT: Health And Wellness MLM

PRICE: $50 + product package + autoship

SUMMARY: The good news is that LifeVantage is not a pyramid scheme or a scam, I do believe it to be a legitimate MLM company that has credibility due to it being a publicly traded company, being around for over 3 decades and actually producing products that people actually do like.

However, there are a couple problems that may deter you from joining such as the emphasis on recruitment to succeed, the issue with it fighting a pyramid scheme lawsuit right now, the false health claims, the issues with cancelling orders and finally the fact that only around 5% of all people are, at the very least, doing decent.

These reasons above are why I personally wouldn’t recommend you join LifeVantage but, if you’re still serious about becoming a distributor, it may be a better option to join LifeVantage over other MLM’s.

FINAL RATING: 2/5

RECOMMENDED: NO

WHAT IS LIFEVANTAGE?

Lifevantage logo

LifeVantage is a health and wellness MLM founded by Darren Jensen in 1988 and is also a publicly traded company. The company only officially became an MLM around the mid 2000’s but before it was just a normal retail company.

The company is a nutraceutical company that claims to be a leader in nrf2 science, which basically helps to reduce free radicals in your body, improve your health and potentially help you live longer.

The fancy scientific language that they use, in simple terms just means that the company produces supplements and  to help with oxidative stress, which is basically the wear and tear of cells within your body, through anti-aging products.

So it’s pretty much like most other health and wellness MLM’s.

As to why you should read the rest of this review, the reason is because I’ve reviewed a lot of MLM’s on this website such as :

Which is why I believe I have a pretty solid grasp on what defines a good or a bad network marketing company.

ARE LIFEVANTAGE’S PRODUCTS ACTUALLY ANY GOOD?

As I’ve not tried any of the company’s products myself, I can’t speak for their quality or how good they are in general but, I did do a little bit of research to see what actual consumers thought and this is what I found.

In general, within bbb it does seem like quite a lot people do like the products even if they’ve had problems with customer service and what not.

Lifevantage good

There are a few people who haven’t had a positive experience with the products but, that doesn’t seem to be an issue for the most part as people will react differently to each and every product anyways.

All in all, the products seem to be good and well liked by the consumers.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY THROUGH LIFEVANTAGE?

As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, LifeVantage being no exception.

1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales

2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.

HOW TO GET STARTED

In order to become an official distributor for LifeVantage, the first thing you’ll need to do is pay a $50 registration fee. After that you will need to purchase one of their product packages which includes :

  1. Silver ($350) – 20% savings
  2. Gold Pack ($650) – 25% savings
  3. Gold Performance Pack ($650) – 25% savings
  4. Platinum ($1,250) – 30% savings

After you’ve bought one of the packages, the next thing that you’ll likely be required to do in order to actually remain eligible for the compensation plan is retain a monthly autoship fee.

This is how most of the costs will start to add up and before you know it, you’ll be deeply invested in the company with the costs continuing to pile up.

In most instances monthly autoships tend be around $60 – $100 a month so, if you take those figures into account, the amount you’ll be spending within a year will account to around $1.1k – $1.6k which isn’t small by any means.

Of course these figures may be a lot more depending on how much you want to invest when starting up.

The plan shows that there are 8 different ways through which you can earn through LifeVantage which are :

  1. Retail Sales
  2. Smart Start Bonus
  3. Launch Bonus
  4. Royalty Commission
  5. Generational Matching Bonus
  6. Elite Bonus Pool
  7. Achievement Bonus
  8. Multiple Business Centers

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS

Recruiting Is Necessary For Success

This isn’t too alarming a fact but yes, in order to truly succeed with LifeVantage, there’s no doubt that you will need to create a very big team that essentially makes you money on auto pilot.

Some might even argue that this is something that a pyramids scheme does, as in the main focus being to recruit others however, in contrast to that point LifeVantage does also sell real products so it’s really tough to call it out for being an undisclosed pyramid scheme.

So, the fact still remains that the majority of individuals within this company that are making good money have got a very a strong downline teams and also are quite good at recruiting 1 on 1 or through other means.

That’s why, in my opinion, if you’re not already good at recruiting or willing to learn how to become good at recruiting other people, it’s going to be very tough ro succeed with LifeVantage, the again that’s how it is with most businesses.

If you don’t want to do this recruiting thing then you should probably skip out on LifeVantage.

Hit With A Pyramid Scheme Lawsuit

In 2018 LifeVantage actually got hit with a lawsuit claiming that it may very well be a pyramid scheme. There isn’t an official verdict on it as of yet but, the lawsuit does make it a somewhat tough company to get into for now.

Who knows, it could be shut down by the FTC anytime now considering the lawsuit is only a year old.

False Health Claims

There have been health claims being made, regarding their flagship product Protandim, where people have been saying that it can cure cancer…

This is of course being said by individual distributors and not the company itself but, what this does show is the lack of training LifeVantage provides in order to prevent situations like this.

In the current medical market, there no magic pill out there that can fix these major health problems effortlessly so, if for some reason, you thought the flagship product could actually cure cancer, just remember that it can’t.

People Are Finding the It Difficult To Cancel Monthly Orders

Some individuals have been struggling to cancel their monthly plans which is obviously going to cause quite a lot of problems for people who want to quit.

I guess this is another problem worth taking note of.

Most People Are Failing

This isn’t very surprising to me because most MLM’s that actually show their income statements tend to show a very small percentage of members making decent to good money.

Lifevantage 2016 income disclosure

The income disclosure statement above shows how only around 4% – 5% of all members are making an average of $1k+ a month whilst less 1% – 2% of members are making a full time income.

Infact around 24% of LifeVantage distributors didn’t even get paid which goes to show how tough it’ll be to make a decent size income with this company.

So, if you decide to join, keep in mind that your success rate isn’t very high at all, at best there’s a 10% you’ll even break even.

THE GOOD THINGS

It’s Been Around A While

As a company that’s been around since 1988, LifeVantage does have quite a lot credibility because in reality, most companies tend to fail within 10 years.

The fact that LifeVantage has been around 31 years is a very good sign on its credibility even with the 2018 lawsuit calling it out.

It’s A Public Listed Company

Being a public listed company is a good thing for LifeVantage as it sperate itself from its other MLM competitors and being able to trade shares adds to LifeVantage’s credibility too.

People Like The Products

For the most part it does seem as if consumers genuinely like what LifeVantage has to offer so, this is of course a good thing as at least you don’t have to be pulling hairs trying to make sales because the products are already regarded as being pretty solid.

IS LIFEVANTAGE A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?

The good news is that LifeVantage is not a pyramid scheme or a scam, I do believe it to be a legitimate MLM company that has credibility due to it being a publicly traded company, being around for over 3 decades and actually producing products that people actually do like.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).

Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.

This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.

The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because

– there is no need to recruit constantly

– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products

– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.

The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.
