Welcome to my TextBroker review!
It’s likely that you have come across TextBroker through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.
First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to purchasing or joining TextBroker. For all you could have known, TextBroker may very well be a scam and rob you of your money so this review could help you find anything peculiar about it.
To be totally transparent with you I haven’t used TextBroker so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you on it unless of course it’s worth investing in.
What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party review of TextBroker that will hopefully help you to make the correct decision in the end.
PRODUCT NAME: TextBroker (TB)
OWNER/S: Jan – Becker Fochler
TYPE OF PRODUCT: freelance writing
PRICE: free to join
SUMMARY: No, TB is not a scam, it’s a legitimate freelance site however, the system has a couple shortcomings which may not make it very appealing freelance writing platform for you to work for.
The amount you can make as a writer whrmystarting up is literally only 1 cent per word meaning, just to make the minimal wage in in America, you’ll need to wrote a little over 700 words an hour.
Even at the highest rate (which you’d have to work your butt off to achieve), 5 cents per word, the amount of writing you’d have to do in order to achieve just doesn’t seem worth it in my eyes. The time it takes to get registered is also another problem that you’ll have with TB, which will get annoying if you have to wait 3 weeks.
FINAL RATING: 3.5/5
RECOMMENDED: Sure

WHAT IS TEXTBROKER?
TB is a a place where people are paid money to complete written tasks for others essentially acting as a freelance marketplace where these writers pick from a pool of potential gigs as TB acts as the middleman that connects the clients and writers together.
TB is actually one of the more older freelance writing sites, being around since 2007 and was created by an individual named Jan – Becker Fochler so, this should add a fair bit of credibility to the site. It also operates worldwide so that’s a nice touch meaning more or less anyone can sign up and become writer.
Just so you know, I’ve reviewed a lot of products on this website such as
Which is why I believe I have a pretty good grasp on what makes a solid system to use or invest in.

HOW DO YOU REGISTER TO TEXTBROKER?
The registration process is a little more completed than the likes of fiverr or upwork but, it’s not the most difficult of things to join. Basically what you’d be required to do is put in your details into a sign up form, complete a few grammar based tests and provide a writing sample.
After these basic requirements, you’ll need to prove your identity by emailing TB documents such as your tax forms, drivers license, which can take upto a few days to process but, the reason you need this is so that TB can actually pay you for completing any tasks.
You’ll also need a PayPal account. Keep in mind that if you still want to work whilst your documents are processing, you can, but it’s only once the documents have been confirmed when you officially will start receiving payments.
HOW DOES TEXTBROKER WORK?
TextBroker’s Rating System
Similar to other freelance websites like Fiverr and upwork, as a writer you will have a rating system within TB however, unlike those two website, your star rating within TB will determine how much you’ll be able to earn from any gigs you may get.
- 2 stars: Average quality content: 0.7 cents per word.
- 3 stars: Good quality content: 1.0 cents per word.
- 4 stars: Very good quality content. 1.4 cents per word.
- 5 stars: Excellent quality content: 5 cents per word.
As you can see the better your rating, the higher your payments and it seems on average, a writer makes $1.78 cents per word. A lot of active members state that as a completely new writer, you’ll start off at a 3 star rating and of course, the more gigs you do and the more statisified clients you get, your rating will ultimately get better overtime.
What this implies is that the peak amount you can make for 1000 words is $50, which isn’t bad but, this is only for the best earners. If you only look at the average amount a writer on TB earns, you’ll be looking to make $17.8 per 1000 words, which honestly isn’t bad but isn’t great either.
TextBroker’s Assignments
The assignments you can access, otherwise known as open assignments are listed within the Author Pool which are further divided into specific star levels a client is looking for.
The assignment will generally have a word limit, the rate of pay as well as a time limit that a client wants their assignment to be completed by.
The topics will also wary from client to client so you’ll have a lot of different topics to write about if you’re into that.
Direct Orders
If you write high quality content and client likes the way you write, they can choose to request a direct order from you. The good thing about the direct order element is that can charge whatever you feel is your price so of course the potential from direct orders are better than just getting gigs from the author pool.
However, it will be a lot harder to get clients in this, especially in the beginning so it’s probably best to build a solid foundation and relationship with your clients before charging double or even triple the normal price for your work.
Team Orders
You can also earn more if you apply for a team within TB. However, it’s not easy to be accepted into a team because you need to have a star rating of around 4 – 5 to apply. Most teams will require you to fill in a brief application form and provide a writing sample.
Team orders are usually done for “managed clients” who have bulk orders and because of this, typically writers can make more through team orders.
How Does TextBroker Pay You?
TB will pay out to your PayPal account once your balance is at $10, the payments can take upto 24 hours. Once you’ve earned over $600 as a writer for TB, they’ll send over a 1090 form for filling in your taxes (this is for US residents only).
THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS
The Amount Individuals Get Paid Isn’t All That Great
The star rating system implies that a large majority won’t be making all that much through TB. Even 5 star writers don’t make all that much, which just shows how TB not the best place to make big money.
The average person makes a little less than 1.8 cents which isn’t all that great and when you take into how much you need to write, research, proofread and so on.
Unless you’re a really fast writer and can complete a 1000 word assignment in around 1 hour or so (I’d say it’ll probably be near 2-3 hours if you’re not very fast), $18 doesn’t seem like all that great for the amount of work you put in.
The Time It’ Takes To Get Registered Is Fairly Long
A lot of people are complaining about the length of time it takes to register for TB saying that it can take as long as 3 weeks for the documents to pass and be officially eligible for payments.
When you compare this to other freelance competitors such as Fiverr and upwork, it’s a little absurd don’t you think, especially when you take into account that the amount of money paid to writers isn’t all that great.
THE GOOD THINGS
Writers Do Get Paid!
Considering how long TB has been around, it should be a given that they actually pay there writers so, if you do manage to become a writer for TB, you definitely should expect to get paid once you meet the threshold.

IS TEXTBROKERS A SCAM?
No, TB is not a scam, it’s a legitimate freelance site however, the system has a couple shortcomings which may not make it very appealing freelance writing platform for you to work for.
The amount you can make as a writer whrmystarting up is literally only 1 cent per word meaning, just to make the minimal wage in in America, you’ll need to wrote a little over 700 words an hour.

The time it takes to get registered is also another problem that you’ll have with TB, which will get annoying if you have to wait 3 weeks.
So, in short the biggest problem with TB is the amount writer’s get paid. If you’re willing to look past that, it may be worth trying out otherwise you can probably look into other business opportunities such as a affiliate marketing which, although slow in the beginning, can produce crazy results.
MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION
I’d suggest you check out my personal recommendation if you still want to make money online, though I’ll warn you right now, it isn’t something through which money will come easy.
It is nonetheless a great business model for the online space in my opinion
So what is this method that I’m talking about?
This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.
The reasons as to why I recommend it is because:
– expectations toward success are a lot more grounded
– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products
– it is a very scalable business
– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.
The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.
