It’s likely that you have come across Univera through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.
Is Univera a scam? The reasons why you’re here is because you have want answers right so, that’s what I’m going to provide for you within this Univera review.
First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to joining Univera. For all you could have known, the product could be a major scam so the fact you’re here right now, researching whether or not that’s the case is a pretty smart move on your part.
To be fully transparent with you, I am personally not a member of Univera so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you it unless of course it’s worth investing in.
What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party look at Univera that will hopefully help you to make the best decision you can in the end.

The emphasis on recruitment to succeed, the complaints on the products being too expensive even though they’re regarded as being quality items, the issue with a lawsuit in the past and the really low success rates for MLM’s as a whole are the main reasons why I wouldn’t recommend joining Univera.

WHAT IS UNIVERA?
Univera is a company that’s focused on the health and wellness niche, particularly around aloe vera based products, and was founded in 1998 by Yunho Lee.
This is only the second aloe vera based MLM I’ve seen in recent times with the last being forever living so, it doesn’t seem to be too competitive an area to delve into and of course its longevity also adds to Univera being a decent company too.
Anyhow, if you’re curious about who the owner is, he’s someone who has a long history in harvesting aloe vera, meaning at the very least he understands the fundamentals of the products. However, since Yunho first founded Univera, there has been a powershift.
This is because now the people at the top of the table are Bill Lee (Chairman) and Ralph Bietz (CEO and President).
Of course this shift in power is not going to be a major reason why you’d consider not doing business with Univera right?
That’s why throughout the rest of this review I’ll outline the core features of Univera and why it may or may not be worth looking at as a way to start a business with and potentially make money with.

UNIVERA PRODUCT LINE
Univera have quite the extensive line of categories and in turn have way too many items for me to list down here separately but, in general their products are focused around nutritional supplements that of course the use aloe vera.
Some of the different product categories offered include the following :
- Bone and joint care
- Digestive health
- Energy and mental clarity
- Heart health
- Him and Her
- Optimal Health
- Immune health
- Superfoods
- Weight management’s etc.
The products themselves seem to be fairly expensive ranging from $25 – $100 for singular products whilst bundles can even cost as much as $1k+.
In terms of the quality of products offered, on bbb it seems as if most people who’ve used them have found the products to be of good quality however, the pricing and sometimes the poor shipment of the products are the main reasons why consumers seem to be disappointed.
I couldn’t find too many individuals talking about how the products helped them so, there is a chance they may not prove to be as useful for you or your potential customers but, as a whole the quality of the products offered aren’t that much of an issue (for now at least).
HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH UNIVERA?
As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, Univera being no exception.
1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales
2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.
HOW TO GET STARTED
In order to join an qualify for Univera’s compensation plan there are a few things you’ll need to do. The first thing will be the need to sign up under an already existing member.
The next step would be to buy one of the company starter kits. These kits range from $50 to $799, with the more expensive kits basically giving you more products for better value overall.
The last thing you’ll need to do is maintain a minimum of a 40pv autoship every month, which I assume is roughly equivalent to $30 – $40. This isn’t the most I’ve seen a MLM require but, it’s still another expense nonetheless.
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
Univera has quite a long and in depth compensation plan spanning of over 17 pages so I won’t be going over it in complete detail here nevertheless, I will provide a simple explanation of the plan so that you have rough idea on the different ways you can earn with Univera.
Firstly you should know that there at 10 different ranks within Univera, all of which require you to recruit or purchase products on a monthly basis to maintain or achieve. The image below outlines the criteria and different ranks within Univera.
This isn’t the largest number of ranks that I’ve seen within a MLM but, the criteria outlined for each rank pretty much implies recruitment will play a huge role in whether you succeed or not because GV aka group volume, is essential for moving up in ranks, unless you want to spend more money monthly.
Retail Commissions
The first way you can earn with Univera is by selling their products. The commission will vary depending on who you sell to. If you’re selling to a preferred customer, as these customers do get a discount themselves, you’ll only make a 10% commission per sale however, if you’re selling to a normal customer, as they don’t get a discount, your commissions become 20%.
Residual Commissions
Univera pays its affiliates residually through the use of a unilevel structure. This structure simply means that an affiliate will be able to recruit infinitely horizontally but vertically the earning potential is capped. In this case the potential is capped at level 4.
The image above shows the amount an affiliate can earn per level. What you earn residually is a percentage of the sales volume generated within each level.

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS
Recruitment Will Decide Whether You Succeed Or Not
If you’re no good at recruitment or aren’t willing to get good at recruitment, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to succeed with Univera, especially considering the really small commission rates when compared to other similar brands.
If you want to be successful with Univera through retail sales alone, you’d likely need to sell upwards of 300 items every month to do so.
This just doesn’t seem as practical as bringing more people into your downline team who essentially will build your income higher without necessarily doing more work, unlike making retail sales where you’d need to work super hard every month to sustain a full time income.
I’m not saying recruitment isn’t hard, it obviously is but, I’d argue that it is a lot easier to recruit 20 people in a month over selling 300 products every month.
The Products Are Too Expensive
The products themselves are quality however, they do seem to be quite overpriced according to customers. So that’s one negative that Univera has although I’d say it’s one of the company’s lesser issues.
They’ve Dealt With A Lawsuit
Although there isn’t too much information on this lawsuit, it does appear as if a ex-distributor did sue them in the past. I wasn’t able to find the results of this altercation but, if there’s a chance Univera were found guilty, this would be an issue you’d need to consider before joining.
Most People Will Fail
Although I couldn’t find an income disclosure statement from Univera discussing the income of their distributors , having seen many different income statements from other MLM’s like it works, lifevantage, zurvita, I’m pretty sure that the majority of members are likely to be doing pretty poorly.
I’ve found that in general terms around 5% of all members tend to make around $1k/month whilst a smaller 1% are making a full time income of around $2k+/month that most want to make.
There’s a chance that the numbers may be better for Univera as the company is more established, meaning there are likely to be a fair few established distributors in the scene by now however, I honestly doubt the figures will be too different from what I’ve mentioned above.
THE GOOD THINGS
It’s Been Around A While
Being around over 20 years after forming is something that the majority of companies out there are unable to do, so the fact Univera has done this adds a lot of credibility to the company as a whole, in my eyes at least.
Customers Like The Products
Another positive that Univera displays is that customers genuinely seem to like the products that are offered.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION
I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).
Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.
This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.
The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because
– there is no need to recruit constantly
– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products
