Is Modere A Scam? (Another Overhyped Health MLM!?)(EXPOSED!)

It’s likely that you have come across Modere through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.

Is Modere a scam? The reasons why you’re here is because you have want answers right so, that’s what I’m going to provide for you within this Modere review.

First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to purchasing or joining Modere. For all you could have known, Modere may very well be a scam and rob you of your money so this review could help you find anything peculiar about it.

To be totally transparent with you I haven’t used Modere so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you on it unless of course it’s worth investing in.

What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party review of Modere that will hopefully help you to make the correct decision in the end.

PRODUCT NAME: Modere

OWNER/S: Robert Conlee

TYPE OF PRODUCT: Health and wellness MLM

PRICE: $29.95 +$399 + monthly autoship

SUMMARY: I personally don’t consider Modere to be a pyramid scheme or a scam, I’d say it’s a legitimate MLM company but, with quite few flaws nonetheless.

The necessity to recruit in order to succeed, the fairly expensive upkeep costs, it’s shady past and how its previous owners were jailed for their illegal conduct and the really low success rate might push you towards not buying into the company.

The eco friendly product and the positively accepted products are a good sign for the company but, being an MLM company means that there’s a lot of baggage you’ll need to carry in order for yourself to succeed with Modere.

I personally would not recommend becoming a social marketer for Modere however, in the end of the day the final decision is yours to make.

FINAL RATING: 2/5

RECOMMENDED: NO

WHAT IS MODERE?

Modere logo

Modere is a health and wellness MLM founded by Robert Conlee and was officially launched in 2014. Modere is actually a rebranded version of Neways International, which was officially founded in 1992 and later acquired by another company called Z Capital.

So what this says is that Modere has been exchanged through quite a few hands to get to where it is now but, it also shows that the background for Modere is quite strong as it has a past that spans nearly 30 years. Neways used to also generate around $300 million in yearly revenue so it was far from being a small company as well.

Robert Conlee, the CEO, has actually been so since 2012 and is someone with a lot of experience having worked for multiple other MLM’s in the past such as Xango and Nu Skin.

However, there is actually a dark secret behind why Neways decided to re brand itself to Modere…

This is because Neways previous owners were corrupt, partaking in tax evasion and conspiracy to defraud the government which eventually led to them banking a 2 year jail sentence.

Obviously this was a major reason for the change in name because I’m guessing the CEO and the owners, Capital Z, did not want to be thought of as a fraudulent company when a topic regarding them came up.

Nevertheless, Modere is officially a different company to Neways so I guess it’s worth giving it chance.

One more thing, if you have doubts regarding my points on Modere, to kind of lessen those doubts, I have actually reviewed a lot MLM’s on this website such as :

Which is why I belive I have a pretty solid grasp on what makes a good or a bad MLM opportunity to pursue.

MODERE’S PRODUCT LINE

Being a health and wellness company, Modere’s collection of products aren’t really going to be too unique from other MLM’s I’ve in the same niche but, it does seem like it is trying to attack many few categories within the health and wellness niche.

These categories include :

Modere products

  • Collagen Sciences : Collagen chews & drinks
  • Health & Wellness : This includes a bunch of supplements for different health purposes such as for anti-aging, weight loss, active health, etc.
  • Personal Care : This includes products like toners, makeup removers, lotions , shampoos, gels, creams and so on
  • Household Care : This line, of course, consists of household products such as lundry detergents, dish wash, kitchen cleaning products, etc.

To check out the products yourself, click here.

Modere also has it’s lie of flagship products, one of them being the M3 formulation series. This lineup is designed to help with your health and weight as long as you use it on a consistent basis.

Of course there’s instructions that you’ll need to follow to get the most out of it but, I don’t really consider the lineup to be anything different from its competitors but, that’s just how most health and wellness companies are.

On top of that, I’m pretty sure that the line up is expensive so, buying into it could prove to be a major burden to your wallet.

DO MODERE’S PRODUCTS ACTUALLY WORK?

As I’ve never actually tried Modere’ a products myself, I can’t speak for their quality but I did do a bit of research to see what consumers thought of them and this is what I found.

It seems like people within bbb gnuinely do like the products on offer.

Modere good

Even within bestcompany it shows that people are genuinely a fan of the products even if there are the occasional issues with customer service and other more technical matters.

Modere good

Modere good

So if you’re worried about the poor quality of the products manufactured by Modere, I’d say don’t be because they genuinely do appear to be pretty solid.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY THROUGH MODERE?

As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, Modere being no exception.

1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales

2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.

HOW TO GET STARTED

If you want to get involved and become one of Modere’s distributors or as they like to call it a “social marketers”, you’ll first need to part with a startup cost of $29.95 which’ll give you access to the basic resources that you’ll need to sell.

However, this probably won’t be enough to get started with the company, you’ll also need to think about buying their builder collection package which will set you back another $399.

And lastly you’ll need to pay an autoship fee in order to remain as an active distributor and continue to actually profit from the compensation plan. Usually these autoship fees tend to be around $50-$100 a month so it can get very expensive if you don’t get to a position where you’re earning decent money.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

If you’re serious about becoming a distributor for Modere, it essential that you learn the compensation plan because it’ll show you exactly how you’ll be making money with the company.

Here is just a bunch of the bonuses and incentives that Modere have on offer :

  • First Order Bonus
  • Team 3 Bonus
  • Lifestyle Consistency Bonus
  • Elite Team Lifestyle Consistency Bonus
  • Dynamic Team Leader & Director Bonus
  • 4 & More Builder Bonus
  • Sharing Bonus
  • Consistency Selling Reward
  • Leadership Development Bonus

This is just a part of the compensation plan, there are also a few other more confusing elements to it so, you’ve got to put a bit of time to get to grips with the plan.

If you want to check out the plan for yourself, click here or check out the video below.

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS

You Will Need To Recruit To Succeed

Recruitment is a huge part of MLM’s and whether or not you actually succeed with, of course Modere also focuses quite heavily on this element.

The compensation plan actually has quite a lot of bonuses that correlate with recruitment so it should come as no surprise that the highest earners within the company are people who’ve got pretty large team/down line.

So, if you’re not good at recruiting, whether it be face to face or recruitment through other means such as through emails or through a website and if you’re not willing to learn how to get good at recruitment, it’s probably not going to be worth it for you to pursue Modere

It Can Get Vey Expensive

The start up fees and the autoship on top can really start to add up if you’re not able to make sales and start earning enough to at least break even.

Althoigh I don’t have the exact requirements in regards to how much you’re meant to pay on monthly autoship, if we’re going off the average amount that tends to be the case from other MLM’s, the total payment for the year would add up to around…

$1k – $1.6k!

That’s definitely not a small amount to be committing to a MLM based company. So, if you do decide to take the plunge and become an official Social Marketer, bare in mind that the costs will be pretty steep.

It Has A Shady Past

Considering how it’s previous name, Neways international, had a pretty awful end, what’s to say that Modere won’t succumb to the same fate either.

Although I’m not saying that Modere is a bad company per say, the fact that it’s current acting CEO was also the CEO for Neways, it might be worth being a little cautious with Modere.

This is pretty minor point but I still think it’s worth knowing it.

Low Success Rate

Last but not least, the number of people actually succeeding through Modere is pretty low.

Modere income disclosure statement

The income disclosure statement above shows how only around 5% of all members are making over $1k a month whilst just a little over 2% of the members are making a full time income.

These kind of results honestly aren’t very surprising as most MLM’s seem to have a success rate similar to what Modere is displaying.

So, bare in mind that it’s going to be very tough to get to a level where you can make a part time income with Modere let alone a full time income. So, if you’re not willing to recruit or just suck at recruitment in general, acheiveing success is just not going to be possible.

THE GOOD THINGS

People Like The Products

The fact that people genuinely like the products on offer, really does catapult the company’s legitimacy beacause there honestly are quite a lot of MLM’s with lacklustre products.

At the very least the products on offer shouldn’t result in too many issues for you if you decide to become a distributor.

It’s Eco Friendly

Unlike other companies that claim their products are eco friendly, Modere does more than just use eco friendly ingredients, the manufacturing and distribution of their products is also eco friendly.

Their manufacturing plants use 100% wind power and they also adopt 100% recyclable packaging which is a nice touch on Modere’s part.

IS MODERE A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?

I personally don’t consider Modere to be a pyramid scheme or a scam, I’d say it’s a legitimate MLM company but, with quite few flaws.

The necessity to recruit in order to succeed, the expensive upkeep costs, it’s shady past and how its previous owners were jailed for their illegal conduct and the really low success rate might make you not want to join the company.

The eco friendly products and the positively acceptance of the products from consumers are a good sign for the company but, being an MLM company means that there’s a lot of baggage you’ll need to carry in order to succeed with Modere.

I personally would not recommend becoming a social marketer for Modere but, in the end of the day the final decision is yours to make.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).

Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.

This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.

The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because

– there is no need to recruit constantly

– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products

– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.

The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.
