Is Jeunesse A Scam? (A Pyramid Scheme In Disguise!?)

It’s likely that you have come across Jeunesse through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.

Is Jeunesse a scam? Maybe it’s a pyramid scheme, of course the reason that you’ve found yourself on the Jeunesse review is because you want to make sure it’s worth joining right? I think that’s definitely a smart move on your part.

First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to purchasing or joining Jeunesse. For all you could have known, Jeunesse may very well be a scam and rob you of your money so this review could help you find anything peculiar about it.

To be totally transparent with you I haven’t used Jeunesse so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you on it unless of course it’s worth investing in.

What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party review of Jeunesse that will hopefully help you to make the correct decision in the end.

PRODUCT NAME: Jeunesse Global

OWNER/S: Wendy Lewis & Randy Ray

TYPE OF PRODUCT: Health and cosmetics MLM

PRICE: $49.95 + $85/month + $19.95/year

SUMMARY: No, it appears that Jeunesse is actually not a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company.

It is actually one of the fastest growing MLM’s in recent history and has since managed to hit the 10 year mark which most companies just don’t seem to make.

However, there just are too many negatives regarding the company as a whole, you need to recruit to succeed, a lot of distributors have been spreading false information regarding the effects of the product, the company has over 16 lawsuits and the rate of making $1k+ a month is abysmally low at around only 3% of members achieving this goal.

So I personally would recommend you avoid Jeunesse as there just are too many negatives regarding the company as a whole. Of course if you still want to join I won’t stop you.

FINAL RATING: 1.5/5

RECOMMENDED: NO

WHAT IS JEUNESSE?

Jeunesse logo

Jeunesse is a health and beauty based MLM founded by Wendy Lewis & Randy Ray in 2009.

As is the case with most companies which tend of have a grand ambition, a mission, Jeunesse also want to accomplish something grand too.

Their mission is to “create a positive impact in the world by helping people look & feel young, while empowering each other to unleash our potential.”

There is nothing wrong with this but, it definitely isn’t anything we haven’t heard before.

The founders, Wendy and Randy actually were involved in another joint venture which was with a company called Feul Freedom International but, this company didn’t work out and the product that they produced also didn’t seem to work.

So afterwards they decided to create Jeunesse which is currently doing significantly better than their previous company.

In fact Jeunesse is the youngest company to ever accumulate $1 billion annual sales in direct selling history in 2015, according to yahoo finance and is also so large that it’s represented in around 140 countries.

JEUNESSE PRODUCT LINE

Jeunesse sell a variety of cosmetic based products as well as nutritional supplements and so on.

Jeunesse had 11 different mainline products so I guess I’ll give you a brief explanation on what they are :

  1. Instantly Ageless ($74.95) : This is a facial cream made to hide under-eye bags, fine lines, wrinkles and pores for around 6-9 hours.
  2. Luminesce ($44.95 ~ $137.95) : This line is a bunch of skincare products that aim to help restore luminosity, firmness and smoother skin
  3. NV (Stands for “Envy”)($55.95) : A perfecting mist facial spray that aims to accomplish an enviable, professional airbrush finish for the user.
  4. AM & PM Essentials ($139.95) : Dietary multivitamin supplements that should be taken in the morning and the evening
  5. RESERVE ($137.95) – Antioxidant fruit juice
  6. FINITI ($144.95 ~ $289.95) : Another supplement line of theirs
  7. ZEN Bodi ($21.95 ~ $399.95) : A health drink with some fruits & plants extract.
  8. M1ND ($137.95) : Dietary supplement that’s supposedly clinically proven to support memory and reduce mental distraction.
  9. MONAVIE ($175) :Another line of health drinks. These contain 19 body-beneficial fruits and plant-derived glucosamine
  10. Naara ($41.95) : Collagen drink
  11. NEVO ($71.95) : Energy drink with no artificial flavors, colors and sweeteners

So it’s safe to say that Jeunesse are essentially charging a premium for their product line which in some instances might make your eyes bulge out of your sockets. Nevertheless, it does seem like some of the products have something worthwhile on offer otherwise why would the company have grown as fast as it has?

Of course I can’t really say much about their quality because I’ve not used them my self before.

DO JEUNESSE’S PRODUCTS ACTUALLY WORK?

Because I’ve not used the products myself, I decided to do a little bit of research to see what actual consumers of the products thought and this is what I found.

On trust pilot it seems like most people just don’t like the company and it seems as if some individuals got double billed even though they didn’t purchase another batch of products.

Jeunesse complaint

Jeunesse complaint

The products for this one couple actually didn’t even work and the fact that they’re so expensive is also a negative.

So it seems like people aren’t really a fan of what’s on offer.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY THROUGH JEUNESSE?

As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, Jeunesse being no exception.

1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales

2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.

HOW TO GET STARTED

To get started with Jeunesse, the first thing you’ll need to do is sign up to them via their application form. After that you’ll need to deal with some mandatory fees.

The first fee you will need to pay is for their starter kit which will set you back $49.95. It’s quite likely that you’ll be asked to purchase some of Jeunesse’s other kits likely through a direct upline member, which can be as expensive as $1800.

Of course it isn’t necessary that you go for the more expensive kits however, there are essentially two other mandatory fees you will be required to pay in order to remain a member and be eligible to be an active distributor and benefit from the compensation plan.

The most costly expense you’ll be dealing with in the minimum requirement, on your part, to purchase $85 of products every month and the last fee you’ll need to pay is another $19.95 every year.

When you total all of this up you’ll be spending a minimum of…

$1089.50!

This isn’t including any other miscellaneous fees you’ll likely be investing in such as ads, hosting parties and so on.

Although it’s far from the most expensive MLM out there, a minimum of around $1.1k.is definitely quite a big financial burden if you don’t know how to make this business work.

Nerium International, Isagenix, Lularoe, Ameriplan and Avon are probably more expensive to run than Jeunesse but, I don’t think you should take the fact that this company is cheaper just at face value.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

Jeunesse has a pretty robust compensation plan that shows 6 different way through which you can earn money. It’s also worth noting that Jeunesse uses the very popular binary structure for its plan. This is where you basically have a left and right leg within your downline structure.

Binary MLM structure

As for what these 6 methods are, they include the following :

  1. Retail Profit : You make a 35% commission on every retail product sale you make
  2. New Customer Acquisition Bonus : $25 – $250 bonus when a new downline member within your team purchases any of the jump-start packages
  3. Team Commissions : You earn residual income which is dependant on the performance of your downline team and whether or not you’ve managed to achieve certain criteria.
  4. Leadership Matching Bonus : You’ll get a bonus reward for helping a member within your downline achieve specific ranks within the company.
  5. Customer Acquisition Incentive : You’ll get a higher Matching Bonus commission percentage when you recruit more people to your downline within a certain period of time.
  6. Leadership Bonus Pool : Get a percentage from the company’s profit sharing once you achieve certain leadership ranks.

If you want a more in depth look at. The compensation plan check out the video below.

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS

You Need To Recruit A Lot To Succeed

Most MLM’s require that you be good at recruiting to some degree to be successful with them so, it’s not surprising that Jeunesse requires that you do the same thing as well.

The problem here is that recruiting is overly emphasised in order to succeed with Jeunesse with a bunch of the areas to earn money through the compensation plan requiring that you also teach your members how to recruit so they can improve their rank.

A pyramid scheme is generally described as a company that doesn’t function from the quality of the products that they sell but, they make a large majority of their money through recruitment.

Although the fact Jeunesse selling actual physical products does partially negate this way of thinking, when you consider all the money you have to constantly spend as a distributor, purely because you got recruited, It wouldn’t really be too far fetched to consider that Jeunesse may be a pyramid scheme.

Moreover, if you want to succeed as a distributor, you have to know the techniques and strategies needed to bring in leads and also know how to sell face to face. If you’re no good at this or just aren’t willing to dedicate a lot of your time learning these skills, I’d definitely suggest you avoid this opportunity.

The Products Are Expensive

The products that Jeunesse sell are quit expensive so you may have a hard time convincing someone to invest in them.

Genrally for a months supply of a single product, individuals can find themselves spending anywhere between $45 – $300! Although this is far from Juenesses major problems, I think it’s still worth noting.

It’s Expensive Upkeep And Stockpiling

As I’ve already mentioned, to start and upkeep your Jeunesse business, you’ll be looking to spend at least $1.1k a year. If you include other fees such as advertising fees and the fees for hosting events, the expenses can easily double the minimum amount.

One of the things that you MUST do in order to remain an active distributor is purchase atleast $85 worth of inventory everymonth, over time this can result in you stockpiling products which may become a little annoying so do also keep this in mind if you decide to join.

Fake Health Claims And Benefits

There are a lot of absurd and fake health claims going around regarding the benefits of Jeunesses products. This claims range from the products being able to cure cancer as well as deal with other serious health problems.

Jeunesse fake health claims

There is literally a whole database exposing these claims that distributors are making. Jeunesse actually have stated that they do not believe that their products can do this but, what this does show is the lack of training that they are providing to their distributor.

These false claims without a doubt are hurting the legitimacy of the company even if they don’t disclose this kind of behaviour.

So Many Lawsuits

Having been around for 10 years and also having grown so quickly over this period, has resulted in Jeunesse being assaulted by lawsuits from everywhere. They’ve been hit with around 16 lawsuits and it’s quite likely that they’ll be needing to deal with even more.

The fact that so many people are filling lawsuits against them probably suggests that Jeunesse have a lot of problems right so, if you’re planning to join, what’s to say that the company won’t shut unexpectedly due to its constant issues with the law.

Most People Are Failing

This isn’t very surprising but it appears that most people are actually failing or just not making as much money as they would like, being a Jeuness distributor.

I’m going to outline a couple of of their income disclosure statements one from the US market in 2014 and one from the Canadian market in 2017

Jeunesse 2014 income disclosure statement us

The USA statement from 2014 shows that only the top 3% are making atleast $1k a month on average being a distributor and how less than 1.5% of all members were making a full time income on average.

Jeunesse income disclosure statement Canada 2017

The Canadian statement from 2017 shows more or less the same results. The fact that more than 80% of distributors aren’t even making more than $300 a year shows how difficult it will be to succeed with this company.

In fact you’re more likely to fail than you are to succeed so if you’re thinking about joining them, be wary that you will need to work exceptionally hard to even see yourself earning atleast $1k a month.

THE GOOD THINGS

It’s Growing Quite A Lot

Since it started up Neunesse has grown quite a lot in the last year turning over $5 billion plus. So at the very least you know that the company is something that is growing and seems to have some potential.

It’s Been Around For 10 Years Now

Its been around for 10 years which gives the MLM quite a bit of credibility as usually companies fail within 10 years.

IS JEUNESSE A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?

No, its appears that Jeunesse is actually not a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company

It is actually one of the fastest growing MLM’s in recent history and has since managed to hit the 10 year mark, something most companies just don’t seem to make.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).

Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.

This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.

The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because

– there is no need to recruit constantly

– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products

– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.

The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask me regarding Jeunesse , feel free to do so in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you have your own thoughts about Jeunesse and would like to talk about it, again feel free to do so in the comments below!
