It’s likely that you have come across YouGov through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.
First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to purchasing or joining YouGov . For all you could have known, YouGov may very well be a scam and rob you of your money so this review could help you find anything peculiar about it.
To be totally transparent with you I haven’t used YouGov so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you on it unless of course it’s worth investing in.
What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party review of YouGov that will hopefully help you to make the correct decision in the end.

SUMMARY: In my opinion YouGov isn’t a scam although it does have a few elements to it that may not make it a very worthwhile prospect to pursue.
The goods things about it are that it’s been around a while, it’s free to join and that there are individuals within YouGov’s ecosystem that have been paid however, there are more complaints about it over good things so it’s hard to concretely recommend it.
There are situations where a lot of people have also complained about not being paid out, the sporadic nature of the surveys and the really high threshold are a few red flags that are definitely worth considering before you join YouGov.
It might still be worth joining even with these problems but, the low monetary potential and the many complaints that it’s received might make you think otherwise

WHAT IS YOUGOV?
YouGov is a UK based survey site that does market research on behalf of other companies and has been around in the industry for a quite a long time, recently eclipsing 19 years online. This of course means YouGov has been around since the year 2000.
It also has multiple bases in multiple countries so it’s a pretty big survey site and company.
I’ve reviewed many products on this website such as :
Which is why I do believe I have some credibility in what I have to say regarding this service.
HOW DOES YOUGOV WORK?
Like most survey websites out there, YouGov has you partake in surveys and if you qualify and complete the survey, you’ll receive points for your efforts.
Of course later on you can exchange these points for rewards and what not all of which I’ll mention in a bit.
How To Sign Up To YouGov
If you want to sign up to YouGov, much like other survey websites out there, you’ll need to fill in a couple forms, put in your email address, name, which country you’re from etc.
Once you’ve received your email link that allows you to confirm your account, you’ll be provided with the first survey on the website which is a demographic survey that’ll roughly take 5 or so minutes to complete. After completing it you’ll be given 100 points and simply have to wait till the next survey.
YouGov’s Surveys And Rewards
As for the surveys and the rewards you’ll receive for them, that’ll vary depending on the length of the survey. Usually at the very least you’ll be given 50 points for completion which of course will be higher the longer and more In depth a survey is.
As for the rewards, you’ll get paid out when you reach a £50 (around $60 – $65) threshold which is equivalent to 5000 points. If you assume that the surveys that you receive after the initiation survey pay you the bare minimum of 50 points, you’ll need to do 98 surveys before you reach this payment threshold.
I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you this but, that’s a lot of work for a very small payout!
You can also spend your points on other prize draws but, that’s probably not going to be the best strategy to take if you want to eventually cash out something…
The only reason why 98 (I’m sure you’ll probably need to do lot less) surveys is a lot is because of how you’ll probably only get a limited number of surveys in a month, 20 or even 10 surveys in a month would be a stretch to say the least. This means it could take a year or so before you see results through just completing surveys alone.
That’s where the refferal program comes into play.
YouGov’s Refferal Program
I’m sure you know what a refferal program is but, just to refresh your memory, it’s when you provide your own unique refferal link to someone else to sign up to YouGov and you’ll basically get benefits from your refferal.
In YouGov’s refferal program, when someone signs up through you and they complete 3 surveys, you both will receive 200 points as a bonus.
200 points is roughly equivalent to 3 bucks, which is great to be honest however, the problem here is that how many of your refferal do you think are likely to stick around to complete 3 surveys?
Not many so, it’s not the greatest of refferal programs but, it’s not horrible at the same time as well.

IS YOUGOV ACTUALLY GOOD?
I’ve not really used the website long enough to get results and actually cashout anything so I can’t really comment on that section of the website personally that’s why I did a bit of research and this is what I found
On Trustpilot I found that the experiences other individuals had with YouGov was a mixed bag.
Some people like the surveys and have actually been paid out.
Whilst on the other hand others haven’t been paid out and feel like the surveys they receive are repetitive and boring.
Others even found that YouGov stopped giving you/them surveys the closer they got to the 5000 point threshold.
So in general the whole system is mostly a mixed bag for customers and whether or not it’ll prove any good for you is going to be completely down to luck.
WHO IS YOUGOV FOR?
YouGov from the looks of it, isn’t a bad survey site to get involved with. The fact it’s been around for so long is also a big reason as to why you can trust the company as a whole.
I personally think that YouGov is a pretty good website to get involved in and you won’t be losing out on anything if do decide to join them, just keep in mind though that cashing out will take a a very long time to achieve so obviously it’s going to be far from a substitute for your part time job and what not.
If you’re fine with this, then I think YouGov is definitely worth getting into.
THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS
High Payment Threshold
At a 5000 point threshold it’s going to take a pretty long time before you can cash out your points. Some people have found that it takes them roughly 4-6 months to see results whilst others struggle to ever reach the threshold.
All on all when you consider how at the very least you will need to do 99 surveys to see your first £50, it doesn’t seem all that worth it unless you only plan on using YouGov as a fun way to pass the time in the long run.
It’s definitely not gonna be anything more than a pass time with a little potential to make you money 6 or so months down the line.
The Surveys Will Be Very Sporadic
The fact it takes so long to cash out your first 5000 points shows how sporadic YouGov’s surveys are. If you genuinely enjoy doing surveys and don’t really mind them being sporadic in nature, YouGov could be worth getting into although, there are quite a few complaints about them becoming boring and repetitive over time.
I guess what you should take away from here is that the money aspect of it isn’t that great so, if you’re an impatient person and also aren’t a fan of the fact that the monetary potential is very limited, YouGov probably won’t be for you.
Complaints Of People Not Getting Paid Out
There are quite a few complaints about not being paid out so, if you decide to do the surveys and even somehow reach the threshold, there’s every chance out there that you won’t receive your money. Do also take this into account if you decide to join the website.
THE GOOD THINGS
It’s Free To Join
It’s free to join so you’re not risking anything if you do take the plunge. Worst scenario you probably will have wasted a bit of time and probably start getting a few spam emails to your email account.
The fact it’s free is obviously a pretty good thing.
Been Around For A Long Time
It being around for nearly 20 years speaks volumes about YouGov’s credibility in my opinion. When you take into account that the majority of businesses fail within 10 years, it’s definitely reassuring that YouGov isn’t just going to shut down if you decide to join.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION
I’d suggest you check out my personal recommendation if you still want to make money online, though I’ll warn you right now, it isn’t something through which money will come easy.
It is nonetheless a great business model for the online space in my opinion
