Is Pomifera A Scam? (A Pyramid Scheme Skincare MLM!?)(REVIEW)

It’s likely that you have come across Pomifera through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.

Is Pomifera a scam? The reasons why you’re here is because you have want answers right so, that’s what I’m going to provide for you within this Pomifera review.

First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to joining Pomifera. For all you could have known, the product could be a major scam so the fact you’re here right now, researching whether or not that’s the case is a pretty smart move on your part.

To be fully transparent with you, I am personally not a member of Pomifera so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you it unless of course it’s worth investing in.

What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party look at Pomifera that will hopefully help you to make the best decision you can in the end.

PRODUCT NAME: Pomifera

OWNER/S: Todd Johnson and Lindsay Colombe

TYPE OF PRODUCT: skincare MLM

PRICE: $99

SUMMARY: As far as I can tell Pomifera is not a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company that seems to do everything decently well. That being said, I still would not personal recommend joining it.

This is because recruitment will still play a huge role in how successful you’ll eventually be, the skincare market is super saturated so it may even be hard to convince people to invest in the opportunity and lastly, the super low success rate within the MLM field as a whole are the main reasons why I’d not recommend Pomifera.

That being said, as of right now it doesn’t have very many super negative things going for it (as it is so new) so I also don’t think it’s a bad MLM either.

FINAL RATING: 2.5/5

RECOMMENDED: No

WHAT IS POMIFERA?

Pomifera logo

Pomifera is a new MLM company focusing in the skincare/health niche as it was only recently founded in February 2020 by Co founders Todd Johnson and Lindsay Colombe.

The skincare niche is a very popular MLM niche with the competition bejng quite stiff with the likes of Mary Kay, Isagenix, Shakelee not to mention other non MLM competitiors. So Pomifera trying to compete in this highly saturated market will be quite the tall order because you’ve got to ask yourself why would people buy from them over the more established entities?

That being said this doesn’t mean that Pomifera’s products and opportunity aren’t better than other competitors despite its age but it does mean it won’t be so easy to convince other, as an affiliate, that Pomifera are worth their while.

As for a little background on both co founders, Todd seems to be a chemist with a PhD whilst Lindsay seems to be the one with the most experience working within MLM’s. Before creating Pomifera with Todd she used to be a black status affiliate for Younique and after that was even a top ranked leader in Alcone.

As is the case with most MLM’s within this niche, they tend to have one factor that differentiates their main line product, which in this case is an oil called the Pomifera oil extracted from osage oranges

Osage orange

This is a fruit that’s really liked by deers and squirrels. According to Todd and a bunch of scientific studies (that aren’t disclosed on his mission statement page) the oil extract is very beneficial for the skin.

POMIFERA PRODUCTS

The number of products that Pomifera offer are moderately sized with only 3 categories available.

These categories include the following :

Pomifera products

  • Hair
  • Body
  • Face

The hair collection only has 1 product called the Radiant Hair Oil No. 025 and it goes for $25

The body collection has 12 products that include bath bombs to body oil and body lather with prices ranging between $9 – $83 (including bundles)

Finally, the face collection consists of 5 different products and the prices here range from $18 – $81 (including bundles)

If you want a more detailed look at each of Pomifera products, click here and check them out on Pomifera’s website

Overall I can’t say Pomifera’s product pricing is bad at all even if you could probably save a little more by investing in a more conventional skin care brand. Also I like the fact that retail customers don’t need to directly contact a Pomifera consultant in order to purchase products too so yeah, just from my impressions of they items they don’t seem half bad.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH POMIFERA?

As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, Pomifera being no exception.

1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales

2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.

HOW TO GET STARTED

If you want to become a Pomifera affiliate you’d need to sign up under an already existing member and then you’d need to pay $99 for a starter kit.

It’s quite possible that in the future you’ll be able to pick from more starter kit options, which will likely determine your rank within the company too however, for now the baseline joining fee is $99.

Of course this is purely to join the company. In order to remain as an active members, you’d likely need to invest a further $100 personally (this is the max you can invest per month) and have the rest of the sales generated by retail customers.

There are ways to work around this but for the most part, I do like that it’s essentially mandatory that actual retail customers must buy from you as opposed to the whole qualifying criteria being reliant on your ability to buy products and essentially stock pile.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

There are many key areas that an affiliate must learn if they decide to join a MLM and of course the same implies for Pomifera affiliates.

The compensation plan is explained in detail by Lindasay in this video and it includes the typical ways to make money with MLM’s such as through retail commissions, residual commissions among other bonuses.

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS

Recruitment Will Play A Key Role In How Successful You’ll Be

Although retail sales are a mandatory element of the compensation plan and that theoretically you could make a full time income purely by personally selling Pomifera products, in terms of efficiency, it is far worse than earning income purely through a more primary focus on recruitment.

The reason I believe recruitment will play a big role in this is because unlike retail sales where you’d need to personally maintain a few hundred sales in order to make a full time income, through recruitment the workload will be far less the more people you bring in under you, with the potential for exponential growth being far better than trying to sustain a large number of retail sales every month.

That’s why I’d say that if you’re not willing to learn how to become great at recruitment if you aren’t already, it’s probably for the best that you skip out on Pomifera or any other MLM for that matter because it’s very likely that you won’t succeed.

The Market Is Oversaturated

Another problem with Pomifera is that it’s competing in a very saturated market which in turn means it’ll be quite hard for the company as a whole to not only remain in business for a long time (as most companies tend to fail within 5 – 10 years) but, it’d also be hard to convince other to by into the products too.

The Chances Of Success Are Likely To Be Pretty Low

Obviously because Pomifera isn’t even a year old there aren’t any stats to back up my observations however, having seen tens of different income disclosure statements over the years I’ve found that generally only the top 1% of all affiliates tend to make a full time income of around $2k+/month.

So I’d definitely suggest you take this figure into account before joining.

THE GOOD THINGS

Although the usage of Pomifera oils does separate its products slightly from other skincare competitors, besides that there really isn’t anything stand out about the company.

I guess I do like that Pomifera requires its affiliates to approach the opportunity in a more legitimate way with retail sales being mandatory in order to remain as an active distributor but besides these 2 points, Pomifera come across to me as a little generic.

IS POMIFERA A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?

As far as I can tell Pomifera is not a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company that seems to do everything decently well.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).

Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.

This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.

The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because

– there is no need to recruit constantly

– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products

– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.

The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask me regarding Pomifera, feel free to do so in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you have your own thoughts about Pomifera and would like to talk about it, again feel free to do so in the comments below!
