PRODUCT NAME: Pink Zebra (PZ)
OWNER/S: Tom and Kelly Gaines
TYPE OF PRODUCT: candles and other accessories MLM
PRICE: $129+
SUMMARY: No, PZ is neither a pyramid scheme or scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company that may be worth pursuing if you’re already a fan of the products.
However, there are a few issues with it such as the emphasis on recruitment to succeed, the expensive products relative to the market PZ is in and the really low success rates for MLM’s as a whole, are a few reasons why it may not be a good reason to join.
There isn’t anything stupendously bad about PZ and their products are kind of hit or miss but, all in all they’re a pretty decent MLM company so, if you are willing to study the art of recruitment, PZ may very well be for you. Nevertheless, I’d still recommend against joining.
FINAL RATING: 2.5/5

WHAT IS PINK ZEBRA?
PZ is a MLM company founded all the way back in 1999 and it seems like they sell candles and other simple items which are geared towards women. The owners of the the company are Tom and Kelly Gaines.
When the company was founded and up until 2011, PZ wasn’t officially a MLM opportunity, it was simply a company that sold scented candles and other trinkets to individuals and even supplied for some huge corporations like Bath and Body Works, Pier 1 etc.
It’s only in 2011 when the duo decided it was worth getting into the MLM market. The main reason for this decision was due to how competitive the candle market was getting over the years so to them, involving their customers seemed like the logical move and for the most part, it doesn’t seem like it’s hurting the company all too much.
However, the reason why you’re here is to know if PZ is a good business opportunity to pursue right? Well, that’s what I’ll aim to help you answer in the review.

PINK ZEBRA PRODUCTS
The products that PZ appear to sell are all very feminine items so, that kind of does limit your marketing potential if you were to join and sell for them. Nevertheless, the products they sell include the following
- jar sprinkles
- scents
- candles
- soaks
- Cards
- Jewlery etc.
Pink Zebra have quite a large library of products so listing them all down here would take too much time but, if you want to still check the line up for yourself, click here.
In regards to what users of the products thought, it does appear to be hit or miss with their sprinkle jar product according to amazon customers.
I’m sure this is probably how it’s going to be for the majority of their other products, then again as the candles and items are likely mass produced it does make sense that some products may not be to everyone’s liking.
HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH PINK ZEBRA?
As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, PZ being no exception.
1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales
2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.
HOW TO GET STARTED
If you want to join PZ, there are a couple steps you’ll need to take. The first would be to sign up under an already existing member and the second step is to purchase one of their enrollment packs, of which there are 2.
These enrollment packs cost $129 for the cheaper starter kit whilst the Deluxe kit will set you back $199.
These kits comes with all of the basic essentials and give you the ability to earn with company’s compensation plan, the main difference is that the deluxe kit comes with more stock to sell.
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
The compensation plan is arguably the most important document anyone looking to join PZ should study. That’s why in this section I’ll briefly be going over some of the core elements of the plan so you have a rough idea on how you can earn with PZ.
Firstly you should know that there are 7 ranks within PZ. These 7 ranks include the following :
- Consultant
- Executive Consultant
- Manager
- Executive Manager
- Director
- Executive Director
- Presidential Director
This is far from the largest number of ranks I’ve seen within a MLM (the most I’ve seen is actually 20), having 7 ranks still does imply you’ll need to recruit a lot to achieve them and as there are fewer ranks, the criteria to achieve each position will be tough to do.
Retail Commissions
These are the commissions you make for personally selling a PZ product. You can earn anywhere from 25% – 35% per sale but this will dependant on how many products you can sell.
The image shows the rates when an affiliate is able to sell $2000+ products (which I’m assuming to be within a month) that individual would be eligible for the highest commission rate of 35%
Residual Commissions
These are commissions affiliates will be able to earn from their downline where PZ uses a unilevel structure that allows you to earn until the 3rd level in the structure.
As for how much affiliates will be able to earn, that will depend on their rank and the number of people they can recruit into the team.
These affiliates will earn 7% from their personally recruited affiliates whilst they’ll also receive 2% of the sales generated by their entire downline.
Various Other Bonuses
PZ also have other bonuses but, I don’t think they’re really worth learning about as the 2 methods mentioned above are the main ways to earn with PZ. Of course If you still want to check out the rest of the compensation plan, click here or watch the video below.

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS
You Will Need To Be Good At Recruiting
If you’re no good at recruitment or sales, your chances of making it with PZ is going to be nigh impossible, which is why I’d suggest you only join PZ if you’re willing to learn how to recruit or are already pretty good at it.
The Profits Per Sale Aren’t All That Great
Firstly, the prices for the products PZ sell are quite expensive for the market they are in and the commission rates are decent too however, this doesn’t mean it’ll be easy to make money with PZ selling their items.
Why would customers spend upwards of $30 on a scented candle when you can just go to your local supermarket and pick something good up for 10 bucks.
Yes the products do look nice and if you do manage to make a sale, it’ll be decent profit relative to the market you’re in however, even at the 35% range and if you’re selling mostly via pop up shops or face to face, at $10 profit per sale, you’d need to sell 150 items simply to make a minimum full time income. And well… that’s clearly not going to be easy.
That’s why recruitment is such a huge component for success with PZ.
Most People Will Fail
I couldn’t find an income to disclosure statement from PZ, which shows a lack of transparency on their part but, having seen many statements from other MLM’s like xyngular, Reliv, plannet marketing etc. I’m pretty sure that the chances of success will be very slim.
In my time researching MLM opportunities, I’ve found that for the most part around 5% of members tend to make $1k/month whilst only the top 1% make a full time income.
That’s why I believe most affiliates will fail if they join PZ.

THE GOOD THINGS
It’s Been Around A While
Having been around since 1999, PZ at this point is 20+ years olds which actually adds a ton of credibility to the company. This further is amplified when you consider must institutions tend to fail within 10 years so PZ making it to 20 is very commendable.

IS PINK ZEBRA A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?
No, PZ is neither a pyramid scheme or scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company that may be worth pursuing if you’re already a fan of the products.
MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION
I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).
Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.
This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.
The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because
– there is no need to recruit constantly
– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products
– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.
The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.
If you have any questions that you would like to ask me regarding PZ , feel free to do so in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you have your own thoughts about PZ and would like to talk about it, again feel free to do so in the comments below!,
Thanks
