Is Color Street A Scam?(A Nail Strips Pyramid Scheme!?)

It’s likely that you have come across Color Street through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.

Is Color Street a scam? The reasons why you’re here is because you have want answers right so, that’s what I’m going to provide for you within this Color Street review.

First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to joining Color Street. For all you could have known, the product could be a major scam so the fact you’re here right now, researching whether or not that’s the case is a pretty smart move on your part.

To be fully transparent with you, I am personally not a member of Color Street so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you it unless of course it’s worth investing in.

What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party look at Color Street that will hopefully help you to make the best decision you can in the end.

PRODUCT NAME: Color Street (CS)

OWNER/S: Fa Park

TYPE OF PRODUCT: Personal care MLM

PRICE: $129 + 300PV per month

SUMMARY: The good news is that Color street is neither a pyramid or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM business but, it’s not a business opportunity I’d recommend joining.

The fact you will need to be very good at recruitment, the really low profits per sale and the concern of a high failure rate are some of the reasons why I’d recommend skipping this opportunity.

Of course, with good training on lead generation (through my #1 recommended course) you will have a much higher chance of succeeding with the company but, the other concern is that if CS did start implementing a more pyramid scheme like practices in the future and was to inevitably shut down, your profits would fall with the company.

This is why I’d much rather reccomend trying a business model that doesn’t pin you down in one niche and it’s also why I suggest you learn affiliate marketing through my #1 training platform.

FINAL RATING: 2.5/5

RECOMMENDED: No

WHAT IS COLOR STREET?

Color street logo

CS is a personal care MLM company founded in mid 2017 by an entrepreneur named Fa Park and it’s a company that pretty much only sells nail strips.

According to Fa, he came up with the idea whilst sitting in a bus in 1984 where a woman was trying to paint her nails and at that moment he thought “there must be a better way”. So after this he decided to experiment with the right kind of nails trying to find a method where the top was dry and the bottom moist and could adhere to the nail.

Over the years he’s been improving this process, patented his process of course and actually now claims to have one of the best nail strips within the beauty industry

So it makes sense that Fa’s quite the entrepreneur too because before creating CS, he created a couple of other businesses namely Incoco and Coconut Nail Art. These aren’t MLM companies like CS but they do sell very similar products to what CS offers.

CS also have a mission that they strive to achieve which is the following :

“No matter how BIG the dream, how BRILLIANT the sparkle, or how INTENSE the shine, it’s our goal to encourage every individual to ACHIEVE big dreams. Create your own path, grab the wheel, and let Color Street take you there”.

It’s not a bad statement at all but, it is kinda generic so, I can’t really say anything about it besides if being a nice motivating statement.

COLOR STREET PRODUCT LINE

CS only has one main type of product which is the nail strip however, there are various different designed so there’s a lot to choose from. The nail strips are also designed in USA, if that’s something that interests you.

The nail strips have spefic features that make them stand which includes :

  • base, color and top coats of high-quality liquid nail polish in each strip
  • brilliant, salon-quality manicures in just a few minutes, with no drying time, smudges, or streaks and
  • 100% real nail polish, not stickers Flexible—can be gently stretched for a perfect fit

These are the reason why the nail strips are regarded as the industry standard. As for the prices, from my research I found out that they are around $11 – $14 for a single pair depending on if you go for a solid design or the more fancier offerings.

If you want to check the designs out for yourself, click here.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH COLOR STREET?

As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, CS being no exception.

1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales

2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.

HOW TO GET STARTED

In order to become a distributor for CS, you’ll be required to pay $129 for the membership as well as purchase 300 PV a month (at the very least) of products to sustain your active membership level within any given rank as aCS distributor.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

CS’ compensation plan is actually very in depth as there are a number of ways you can make money with the company but, before I go over the plan I believe the first thing you should know are the different ranks within CS as well as the criteria to achieve them.

In total there are 12 different ranks and the requirements for each of them are the following :

  • Stylist : generate and maintain 300 PV a month
  • Senior Stylist : maintain 300 PV a month, generate and maintain two unilevel legs with a Stylist in each, generate 1000 GV a month and at least 2000 GV accumulated in total
  • Team Leader : maintain 300 PV a month, generate and maintain three unilevel legs with a Stylist in two and a Senior Stylist or higher in the third, generate 2500 GV a month and at least 5000 GV accumulated in total
  • Director : maintain 300 PV a month, generate and maintain four unilevel legs with a Stylist in one, a Senior Stylist in two and a Team Leader or higher in the fourth, generate 7500 GV a month and at least 20,000 GV accumulated in total
  • Senior Director : maintain 300 PV a month, generate and maintain five unilevel legs with a Stylist in two, a Team Leader or higher in two and a Director or higher in the fifth, generate 25,000 GV a month and at least 50,000 GV accumulated in total
  • Executive Director : maintain 300 PV a month, generate and maintain six unilevel legs with a Stylist in three, a Director or higher in two and a Senior Director or higher in the sixth, generate 50,000 GV a month and at least 150,000 GV accumulated in total
  • Senior Executive Director : maintain 300 PV a month, generate and maintain seven unilevel legs with a Stylist in four, a Senior Director or higher in two and an Executive Director or higher in the seventh, generate 150,000 GV a month and at least 500,000 GV accumulated in total
  • National Executive Director : maintain 300 PV a month, generate and maintain eight unilevel legs with a Stylist in four, a Senior Director or higher in two, an Executive Director in one and a Senior Executive Director in the eighth, generate 300,000 GV a month and at least 1,000,000 GV accumulated in total
  • Sapphire National Executive Director : maintain National Executive Director qualification with an additional National Executive Director unilevel team leg
  • Ruby National Executive Director : maintain National Executive Director qualification with two additional National Executive Director unilevel team legs
  • Emerald National Executive Director : maintain National Executive Director qualification with three additional National Executive Director unilevel team legs
  • Diamond National Executive Director : maintain National Executive Director qualification with four additional National Executive Director unilevel team legs

PV stands for personal volume whilst GV stands for the group volume of every individual within an affiliates downline team and as you can see, the requirements to achieve the highest ranks are astronomical in comparison to the first few.

Of course I’m sure less than 1% ever will reach the 10 – 12th ranks but, that’s just how modern MLM’s are structured nowadays and I definitely don’t find it to be beneficial for most people.

Now I’ll go over the 7 main ways to make money with CS.

Retail Commissions

The retail commission you can earn per sale range from 25% – 35% depending on how many sales you make within a given month.

  • generate up to $599 in monthly retail sales and get a 25% commission rate
  • generate $600 to $1199 in monthly retail sales and get a 28% retail commission rate
  • generate $1200 to $1799 in monthly retail sales and get a 30% retail commission rate
  • generate $1800 to $2399 in monthly retail sales and get a 32% retail commission rate
  • generate $2400 or more in monthly retail sales and get a 35% retail commission rate

Achieving the the more advanced rates aren’t going to be easy and essentially making only a minimum of $2.5 per sale isn’t that great either but, I can’t say that the commissions rates are bad, it’s just that you’d need to make an insane amount of sales on a monthly basis (over 250) to even make $1k/month through retail sales alone.

Enroller Bonus

This is a flat 3% bonus paid on the sales volume generated down two levels of recruitment.

  • Stylist and Senior Stylist ranked affiliates earn 3% on level 1 (personally recruited affiliates)
  • Team Leader and higher ranked affiliates earn 3% on levels 1 and 2

Residual Commissions

CS utilises a unilevel structure for its residual commission payouts. This particular structure allows for an unlimited number of people to be recruited horizontally whilst there generally tends to be a cap to the depth of evels.

As for how the levels work, level 1 includes the members you personally recruited, level 2 is the personal recruits of your personal referrals, level 3 is Level 2’s personal referrals and so on.

CS caps the depth of their structure at level 4.

The residual commission an affiliate will be eligible to make will be determined by their rank :

  • Stylists earn 3% on level 1 (personally recruited affiliates)
  • Senior Stylists earn 3% on levels 1 and 2
  • Team Leaders earn 3% on levels 1 to 3
  • Directors and higher earn 3% on levels 1 to 4

Team Bonus

Executive Directors and higher ranked affiliates are also able to earn a 1.5% on their entire unilevel team volume. If a Senior Director is in a unilevel leg, the Team Bonus for that leg is capped at four levels after them.

Generational Bonus

Whenever a Executive Director rank or higher is found within a level within your unilevel structure, that’s when a generation will occur. The downline members will cap off the first generation of that unilevel leg, with the second beginning immediately after it.

The same process occurs if another Executive director is found on level 2 – 4.

As for what are the commission rates for a generation, they include :

  • Executive Directors earn 3% on one generation in a unilevel leg
  • Senior Executives earn 3% on up to two generations and
  • National Executives earn 3% on up to three generations

Lifestyle Bonus

Executive Director and higher ranked affiliates can qualify for a monthly Lifestyle Bonus.

  • Executive Directors receive $500
  • Senior Executive Directors receive $750
  • National Executive Directors receive $1000

There are also other elements of the of the compensation plan for sapphire or higher ranked members but, it’s not something you’ll be needing to learn about anytime soon so, I won’t be covering it here.

If you want a more detailed look at the compensation plan, watch the video below.

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS

Recruitment Is Crucial To Success

If you’re not good at recruiting you shouldn’t expect to be successful with Color Street. Yes, technically speaking it is possible to make good money through retail sales however, you’d need to move well over 250 just to make $1k/month and a further 300 – 400 on top to come out with a healthy yet somewhat minimum wage full time income of $2k+ monthly.

Therefore, the most logical way to succeed would be through recruitment as your referrals will be able to generate you a lot more money without you really needing to do a lot of work after they’ve signed up.

There’s many ways to go about recruiting, whether it be through face to face interactions or online lead generation (probably the best method) which means you’d either already need to have the skills or be willing to put in more time and money to learn them.

Once you’ve become pretty good at recruiting or you’re willing to study theses methods, I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to make it big with the company but, it’s just the truth for CS and pretty much other MLM out there that you’ll need be a good recruiter to succeed.

The Retail Sales Margins Are Quite Low

Although the price of the products only being around 10 – 15 is great, the profit per sale aren’t all that great, at least you’d only be making around $6 meaning you’d still need to make 300 sales for a full time salary.

Furthermore, considering you’ll probably need to hold hosting parties to make some sales, the overall margins will be a lot less in the long run and inevitably it just wouldn’t be worth actively trying to sell CS’ nails in person.

Of course if you’re able to create a website and in turn are able to generate sales through online means, again the profit margins are unlikely to be all that great but, at least this way you won’t be wasting time setting up parties where you’re only able to make a few sales.

Most People Will Fail

I couldn’t find any official documentation on the earnings that CS members achieve but, through through my own educated guess having seen tens of different MLM income statements from worldventures, kyani, nucerity, xyngular, I can tell you now that the figures are unlikely to be all that good.

In fact generally only 5% of members tend to make $1k/month while often less than 1% of every member is able to generate a full time income of $2k+ monthly.

I’m not saying that you won’t be able to succeed as a CS distributor but, I am pretty certain that your chances of succeeding are very slim.

THE GOOD THINGS

The Products Are Reasonably Priced

The products themselves are reasonably priced and there’s a whole bunch of nails to choose from which may make it easier to convince customers to buy them from you.

Of course the profit margins from direct sales won’t be the greatest but, the prices of the nail strips don’t make it absolutely ridiculous to invest in a few different designs.

I do know that it’s possible to get cheaper nails but, CS are regarded as having among the best nail strips in the market so the slightly more expensive pricing shouldn’t be a deal breaker for most I would assume.

IS COLOR STREET A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?

The good news is that Color street is neither a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM business but, it’s not a business opportunity I’d recommend joining.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).

Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.

This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.

The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because

– there is no need to recruit constantly

– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products

– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.

The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask me regarding CS , feel free to do so in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you have your own thoughts about CS and would like to talk about it, again feel free to do so in the comments below!
