Is Trivita A Scam?(A Pyramid Scheme In Disguise!?)(REVIEW)

It’s likely that you have come across Trivita through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.

Is Trivita a scam? The reasons why you’re here is because you have want answers right so, that’s what I’m going to provide for you within this Trivita review.

First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to joining Trivita. For all you could have known, the product could be a major scam so the fact you’re here right now, researching whether or not that’s the case is a pretty smart move on your part.

To be fully transparent with you, I am personally not a member of Trivita so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you it unless of course it’s worth investing in.

What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party look at Trivita that will hopefully help you to make the best decision you can in the end.

PRODUCT NAME: Trivita

OWNER/S: Michael R. Ellison

TYPE OF PRODUCT: health and wellness MLM

PRICE: $20 per month

SUMMARY: The good news is that Trivita is neither a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company which of course is further exemplified by the fact the company is 20 years old at this point.

However, it is an MLM company in the end of the day therefore, you will still need to be good at recruitment and the chances of success are unlikely to be all that high either.

Another concern is their run in with the FTC 5 years ago which may be another reason why Trivita may not be the most trustworthy of companies to work for.

All in all Trivita doesn’t have any stand out features and as it is a MLM, it’s also not a business model I’d recommend either. Of course if you really want to promote them, it isn’t illegal so you can do so but, remember that you will need to get good at recruitment otherwise you will be wasting you time.

FINAL RATING: 1.5/5

RECOMMENDED: NO

WHAT IS TRIVITA?

Trivita logo

Trivita is a health and wellness based MLM founded by Michael R. Ellison in 1999. So, the company is already very established therefore, it being in the health and wellness industry isn’t as bad as if a new MLM was trying to make its mark.

Trivita is located in Arizona. The company claims to have “science based nutritional supplements” according to its website but, that’s something most MLM’s claim to have, even when they don’t so, take it as you will.

Although Trivita is still primarily a supplements based company, in recent years they’ve expanded their horizons by branching out to an online webcast series. This is where a prominent medical professional hosts a webcast and even in some cases may host free live events too which members can choose to attend.

Moreover, the most unique thing about the institution is the fact that Trivita actually has its own Clinic of Integrative Medicine where physicians use a holistic process when treating patient’s illnesses.

TRIVITA PRODUCT LINE

Trivita have a fair few products within their line up, I’d say somewhere around 40+ items so I’m not going to list them all down here but, I will go over their 4 main categories so that you have decent idea of how their products are organised :

Trivita products

  1. Healthy Aging : This category includes their flagship product, Nopalea, which is a fruit drink packed with a nutrient called Betalain, an extract from the prickly pear called Nopal. Other products also include the TriVita Slow Dissolve B-12 tablets.
  2. Targeted Nutrition : This category includes products like Adaptuit, which is one of Trivita’s flagship product. It is a nutritional supplement designed to combat stress-related illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease. They also have sleep-related products called Adaptuit Sleep, and medicines for the joint called Joint Complex.
  3. Performance : These products are made to help consumers “build lean muscle faster”. Products include MyoHealth™ Essential Amino Acid Complex Berry Crush, MyoHealth™ Vegan Capsules, and MyoHealth Lemonade 2 Pack.
  4. Herbal Supplements :Their herbal supplements are extracted from herbs found in the Amazon rainforest. These products include Fiberzon Capsules, Zamu Protect, Rainforest Treasure Tea, Aqua Algae, Rejuvenate.

As for thee prices for these items Trivita sell, they do of course vary but, I found that on average each of their products were around the $30 – $35 mark with overall prices ranging from $15 – $100+. So, in my perspective and having seen the price ranges for the majority of other health and wellness MLM’s, the costs aren’t all that bad.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH TRIVITA?

As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, Trivita being no exception.

1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales

2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.

HOW TO GET STARTED

If you want to join Trivita you’ll need to sign up to a minimum $20 autoship monthly fee. However, in order to make the most out of the opportunity and benefit the most from their compensation plan, you would need to up that to $50 by purchasing one bottle of Nopalea on a monthly autoship.

By doing so you’ll also get access to your own replicated website and back office access at no additional cost.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

The structure of the compensation plan is something everyone who’s interested in the company should learn, that’s why I’ll be going over it here, although quite briefly, so you have a rough idea on how to make money with Trivita.

As is the case with pretty much every single MLM out there, Trivita does have its own affiliate ranks, which equates to 11 different membership ranks. Below I’ll outline what they are and the qualifying criteria for them :

  1. Afilliate Member : To become an affiliate memeber, an affiliate will need to have personal qualifying autoshio of $20
  2. Director : To qualify as a 1 star affiliate members, you must have a personal qualifying order of 40 and must have enrolled one affiliate member.
  3. 1 Star Affiliate Member : To qualify as a 2 star affiliate member, you must have a personal qualifying order of 100 and must have enrolled at least 2 affiliate members. Plus, you must have a monthly TGV of 2,500.
  4. 2 Star Affiliate Member : To qualify as a 2 star affiliate member, you must have a personal qualifying order of 100 and must have enrolled at least 2 affiliate members. Plus, you must have a monthly TGV of 2,500.
  5. 3 Star Affiliate Member : To qualify as a 3 star affiliate member, you must have a personal qualifying order of 100 and must have enrolled at least 3 affiliate members. Plus, you must have a monthly TGV of 5,000.
  6. 4 Star Affiliate Member : To qualify as a 4 star affiliate member, you must have a personal qualifying order of 100 and must have enrolled at least 3 affiliate members. An additional monthly TGV of 10,000 is required for this rank.
  7. Director : To qualify as a director, you must have a personal qualifying order of 100 and must have enrolled at least 3 affiliate members. An additional monthly TGV of 25,000 is required for this rank.
  8. 1 Star Director : To qualify as a 1 star director, you must have a personal qualifying order of 100 and must have enrolled at least 3 affiliate members. An additional monthly TGV of 50,000 is required for this rank.
  9. 2 Star Director : To qualify as a 2 star director, you must have a personal qualifying order of 100 and must have enrolled at least 3 affiliate members. An additional monthly TGV of 50,000 is required for this rank.
  10. 3 Star Director : To qualify as a 3 star director, you must have a personal qualifying order of 100 and must have enrolled at least 3 affiliate members. An additional monthly TGV of 75,000 is required for this rank.
  11. Presedential Director : To qualify as a presidential director, you must have a personal qualifying order of 100 and must have enrolled at least 3 affiliate members. An additional monthly TGV of 250,000 is required for this rank.

As you can see, in order to achieve the higher ranks you will need to meet a pretty hefty set of requirements but, that’s just how it is with MLM companies. It’s simply something you’ll have to figure out in order to truly be a successful individual with any given MLM, let alone Trivita.

Retail Commissions

As is the case within all MLM’s that require you to sell physical products, you will earn commission on every item that you manage to sell.

I couldn’t find out the exact numbers you’d make per sale but, going off averages I’d say it’d be somewhere around the 20 – 30% range.

Income Accelerator Weekly Bonus

This is a bonus that you can potentially qualify for whenever a new member joins. To qualify for this bonus, a new member or customer must order a product within the first 60 days after signing up. The amount of bonus he or she earns depends on the rank they possess.

Unilevel Commissions

This is the method I’ve found, in my time researching MLM’s, as being the main way to make money with so, I’m certain Trivita is likely going to follow the same pattern too.

In this case depending on your rank, the number of members you have within you downline team and after the 60 day period has passed, you’ll be able to earn a percentage of the sales generated in each of the levels. As the structure used in this case is a unilevel one, you’d theoretically be able to recruit infinitely horizontally whilst vertically the level will be capped at 7.

These are the main bonuses and elements that people starting off with Trivita should learn and there are various other bonuses too such as a leadership bonus, regular promotions and incentives, free prepaid debit cared etc. But, they’re not necessarily important to completely understand right now.

However, if you do want to learn about them, you could check out this pdf file or watch the video below.

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS

Need To Be Good At Recruitment

This is a core skill every person looking to succeed within a MLM should know or at least be willing to learn. In the end of the day, this is how the MLM business model thrives and also how the majority of the successful affiliates within Trivita, and any other MLM for that matter, make their money.

Retail commissions is generally a way a very small number of individuals succeed with Trivita, individuals who probably have an audience to whom they can target to make sales, because without such an audience, it will be tough to generate a hundreds of sales a month and make enough money with Trivita to justify a full time income.

Therefore, it only makes sense that having tons of people in your downline team, from whom you’ll be able to earn a percentage in profits from their commissionable sales revenue, will be the best way to succeed because not only will you not need to do as much work trying to maintain a high number of sales but, you’ll also be making commissions on autopilot.

Of course it’s not completely this black and white however, I do know that recruiting members is nearly always the reason why members not only move up in ranks but, are also able to make a good living via MLM’s.

They’ve Been Fined In The Past For False Health Claims

In the past Trivita were actually fined by the FTC for making false claims regarding the health benefits of their flagship product, Nopalea.

This was exposed in 2014 and since then they have been pretty clean and law abiding with their health claims however, this does leave a bit of a stain on the company’s records and may even be a good enough reason to not get involved.

No Transparency

The lack of an income disclosure statement means that I couldn’t find any stats regarding earnings of members however, this does not stop me from making an educated guess on the likely annual earnings of member, afterall, I have seen many many income statements from other MLM establishments.

There’s probably a reason why Trivita isn’t transparent with their income stats and I’m pretty sure it’s because the stats aren’t great.

Anyhow, in terms of the stats, I’ve found that generally the top 5% of affiliates make $1k/month whilst only 1% of members hit $2k/month on average.

So, that’s where I’d assume the numbers for Trivita are too.

THE GOOD THINGS

It’s Been Around A While

A solid positive for the company is that Trivita has been around for 20 years at this point, which is actually a very admirable accomplishment when you consider most companies tend to collapse within 10 years of starting up.

Fairly Straightforward Compensation Plan

The compensation plan is also fairly straightforward and which I guess is another good thing too.

IS TRIVITA A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?

The good news is that Trivita is neither a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company which of course is further exemplified by the fact the company is 20 years old at this point.

However, it is an MLM company in the end of the day therefore, you will still need to be good at recruitment and the chances of success are unlikely to be all that high either.

All in all Trivita doesn’t have any stand out features and as it is a MLM, it’s also not a business model I’d recommend either. Of course if you really want to promote them, it isn’t illegal so you can do so but, remember that you will need to get good at recruitment otherwise you will be wasting you time.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).

Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.

This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.

The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because

– there is no need to recruit constantly

– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products

– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.

The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask me regarding Trivita , feel free to do so in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you have your own thoughts about Trivita and would like to talk about it, again feel free to do so in the comments below!
