SUMMARY: The good news is that SOC isn’t a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM opportunity that’s very unique and has a lot of credibility considering it has been around for 15+ years.

However, there are a few major problems that it has such as the emphasis on recruitment, the annoying restrictions on how you can’t sell their products as a distributor through your own website and the really low success rates as disclosed in their income statement, make It so I can’t recommend spending your money or time In SOC as you probably will fail.

WHAT IS SEND OUT CARDS?

Send out cards logo

SOC is a MLM company that sells greeting cards, making it quite unique in the MLM space, and is founded by Kody Bateman in 2003.

So the company is far from being your new average MLM where its in the market for a couple years before collapsing and in turn resulting in the loss of all the money you invested in it. The fact SOC has longevity really does give it a ton of credibility.

SEND OUT CARDS PRODUCT LINE

SOC sell many variations of greeting cards or items that you can gift to individuals. The library of items SOC has is quite large but, just to give you an idea of what they sell, they include the following :

  • Wine Bottle Holder
  • Oreos
  • Gift Set
  • Playing Cards
  • Caramels etc.

Although these items are nice in their own regard, SOC’s headline product is still their greeting cards. The greeting cards they sell aren’t anything amazing but, considering they’ve worked on them for so long they’re not all too bad either.

In fact it’s basically a matter of taste whether or not you, your friend or even a business will like what SOC offers.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH SEND OUT CARDS?

As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, SOC being no exception.

1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales

2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals

HOW TO GET STARTED

If you want to become a SOC consultant you’ll need to follow through with a couple steps. The first thing you’ll need to is purchase one of their 3 starter kits.

Send out cards starter kits

  1. Personal Bundle $195
  2. Marketing Bundle $395
  3. Business Bundle $795

And then you’ll need to pay a further $39/month to give you an active status as a SOC consultant.

To me this opportunity isn’t necessarily the most expensive MLM I’ve seen as long as you don’t go all out and purchase the business bundle however, it still may become a little to steep a price tag considering how niche the whole idea of a business idea around greeting cards is.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

The compensation plan is arguably the most important document that SOC provides for members so, it is something that anyone serious about SOC should read up on.

In this section I’ll briefly go over it so that you have a rough idea on how the company works.

Do note that there are 5 different ranks within SOC from manger to Eagle which means you will need to recruit a fair bit to achieve the top ranks. 5 ranks is actually among the lower number of ranks I’ve seen within a MLM but, it still means you will need to recruit or sell a ton of products to move up and maintain the higher level rankings.

Retail Commission

This is the commission you’ll make whenever you personally sell one of SOC’s products. You can make a commission of 20% for every sale you generate.

Residual Commission

These are commission that you’ll be a able to earn from the sales volume generated by your downline team. In this case SOC uses a unilevel structure to determine to what level an affiliate will be able to earn till. In this case the earning potential is capped at the 7th level.

Affilates will be able to earn 2 – 5% of their teams sales volume generated. Of course the amounts an affiliate can earn as well as the depth they’ll be eligible to receive this bonus from will be dependant on how highly the rank within the company.

Customer Aquisition Bonus

SOC seem to pay members upto $335 for every customer they bring who purchase one of the starter bundle.

There are also other ways to make money with SOC but I won’t be covering them here as they’re probably not worth checking out as a beginner. However, if you still want to see what else is discussed within the compensation plan, I’d suggest checking out the video below.

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS

You’ll Need To Either Sell A Lot Or Be Really Good At Recruiting

Recruitment is always a very important component to finding success with any MLM and SOC is also company that requires its members to recruit a ton to succeed.

The reason why is because selling greeting cards themselves won’t really amount to much profit, especially if you’re the only one doing it therefore, it only makes sense that having other people in your team, from whom you earn a percentage of their sales, would be much better than going about selling the cards on your own.

There’s a much better chance of making a full time income with 10 people in your team over doing everything on your own, which is why I wouldn’t recommend joining SOC unless you’re already decent at recruitment or are willing to learn how to get good at it.

Strict Marketing Practices

For some reason SOC doesn’t allow you to promote their products on anything other than their own website or through face to face sales. This limits the potential exponentially and ultimately is probably the reason why the majority of members are failing.

This obviously is not a good thing if you were planning to expand your reach through a different website.

Low income Potential

According to their 2017 income disclosure statement, the majority of affiliates are failing and to be honest with you, this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to me.

Send out cards 2017 income disclosure statement

In fact the rates seem a lot worse than other MLM’s I’ve reviewed as in this case the top 5% are only making $500/month  as opposed to the average of $1k/month that I’ve found to be typical amongst MLM’s.

And in this case literally less than 2% of members are averaging around $1k/month. As for members making $2k/month (minimum full-time income), it’s only the top 1%.

So, yeah this just shows that the chances of really making it big with SOC will be very very low.

THE GOOD THINGS

It’s Been Around A While

Having been around since 2003, the company is one of only a minority that have made it beyond the 10 year mark, which is actually the time frame within which most other companies tend to fail.

That’s why SOC being 15+ years old adds a lot of credibility to it.

IS THE SEND OUT CARDS A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?

The good news is that SOC isn’t a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM opportunity that’s very unique and has a lot of credibility considering it has been around for 15+ years.

However, there are a few major problems that it has such as the emphasis on recruitment, the annoying restrictions on how you can’t sell their products as a distributor through your own website and the really low success rates as disclosed in their income statement, make It so I can’t recommend spending your money or time In SOC as you probably will fail.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).

Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.

This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.

The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because

– there is no need to recruit constantly

– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products

– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.

The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask me regarding SOC, feel free to do so in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you have your own thoughts about SOC and would like to talk about it, again feel free to do so in the comments below!

Thanks
