It’s likely that you have come across Pure through an email list, on social media or got it recommended by a friend or family member.
Is Pure a scam? The reasons why you’re here is because you have want answers right so, that’s what I’m going to provide for you within this Pure review.
First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to joining Pure. For all you could have known, the product could be a major scam so the fact you’re here right now, researching whether or not that’s the case is a pretty smart move on your part.
To be fully transparent with you, I am personally not a member of Pure so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you it unless of course it’s worth investing in.
What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party look at Pure that will hopefully help you to make the best decision you can in the end.
PRODUCT NAME: Pure
OWNER/S: Daren Hogge
TYPE OF PRODUCT: health & beauty MLM
PRICE: $25 + $150/month
SUMMARY: The good news is that Pure is neither a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company that you could possibly find success through, provided you use the right strategies however, besides it longevity, there isn’t any reason why I’d personally recommend joining it.
The fact you need to be really good at recruiting to succeed, the company’s shaky past with the FTC, the really expensive costs to maintain your active status along with the really low success rate are a few reasons why I personally recommend skipping Pure.
Moreover, it also doesn’t seem like a sensible thing, in my eyes atleast, to lock yourself into a business where you can only sell a specific set of products, especially when there’s a business model like affiliate marketing out there which can not only be profitable but, is also a lot more diverse when it comes to selling products online for profit.
FINAL RATING: 1.5/5

WHAT IS PURE?
Pure is a MLM company that was founded all the way back in 2009 where it was initially called Genesis Pure. There’s actually a pretty good reason why the company decided to rebrand their name to Pure and it’s because of a lawsuit associated with the company’s previous CEO, Lindsay Duncan.
Lindsay was sued by the FTC in 2014 where she was fined $9 million and was imminently booted off from her position. It’s quite hard to know when Genesis Pure rebranded themselves as Pure but, it seems as If it probably happend sometime around mid 2017.
Since then, the company obviously has appointed a new CEO, namely Daren Hogge. After doing a bit of digging I managed to find that Darren was appointed as CEO in December 2016.
The company operates in 2 different niches, the health & wellness and beauty & cosmetics area, although it’s more so a health and wellness company from what I could find.

PURE’S PRODUCTS
Pure has a pretty diverse number of products and have over the years expanded their line up.
One thing that may be concerning is that Lindsay was actually the “head formulate” for the products before she was booted out so, there are likely to be quite a few remnants of het work within the line up however, at this point I’m sure they’ve figured a lot of the technicalities out so it’s probably not too big problem.
As for the products that are sold by Pure, they include nutrition, weight loss, performance, seasonal support, hydration and skin care. Each category also has its fair share of products so, I’m not going to list them all because it is quite extensive.
The products are varied in pricing too, with packages costing as much as $400 – $500 to as little as $14. A vast majority of what’s offered will be around $50, which is expensive but, it’s the normal price when it comes to MLM’s so, I guess it’s kinda what comes with the territory.
HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH PURE?
As is the case with pretty much all MLM businesses there are 2 ways to make money with them, Pure being no exception.
1. The first method is by directly selling the product to other individuals and in return make a commission for the sales
2. You make money through your recruits and downline, by getting residual income by following and meeting certain criteria as well as make money through bonuses and incentives due to meeting company set goals.
HOW TO GET STARTED
In order to join Pure, the first thing you’d need to do is join under an already existing member. After that you’d be required to pay a $25 yearly membership fee.
Furthermore, in order to kickstart your journey as a Pure consultant, you’d also need to consider purchasing one of their starter kits.
These kits are called the Pure enrollment packs and they come in 3 different variants :
- $449.95 (300 PV)
- $699.95 (500 PV)
- $1899 (1500 PV)
As you can see these packages can cost a lot of money to purchase and I’m sure most would struggle to bring out the funds to pay for them. The main difference between each pack is simply that you get more value for your money i.e. make larger margins of profit per sale.
Moreover, in order to actually qualify for the compensation plan, which is how you’ll be making the majority of your income, you’ll need to generate 100 PV or more every 28 days, which simply means you’ll need to purchase $150 of products every month.
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
The compensation plan is easily the most important document that Pure produces. It is something you should really go over, multiple times even, if you were to join. I’ll be going over it briefly in this section so that you have a rough idea on how you can earn income as a distributor.
Firstly, I want to go over all of the ranks and the criteria to qualify for them :
- Affiliate – sign up and maintain MLM commission qualification
- Bronze Director – generate and maintain 500 GV in monthly weaker binary team side volume
- Silver Director – generate and maintain 1500 GV in weaker side and 2000 GV in stronger side (max 1500 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Gold Director – generate and maintain 3000 GV in weaker side and 4000 GV in stronger side (max 3000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Platinum Director – generate and maintain 5000 GV in weaker side and 7000 GV in stronger side (max 5000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Sapphire Executive – generate and maintain 7500 GV in weaker side and 10,500 GV in stronger side (max 7000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Ruby Executive – generate and maintain 10,000 GV in weaker side and 15,000 GV in stronger side (max 10,000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Emerald Executive – generate and maintain 15,000 GV in weaker side and 20,000 GV in stronger side (max 13,000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Diamond – generate and maintain 20,000 GV in weaker side and 35,000 GV in stronger side (max 15,000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Blue Diamond – generate and maintain 30,000 GV in weaker side and 50,000 GV in stronger side (max 20,000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Presidential Black Diamond – generate and maintain 30,000 GV in weaker side and 75,000 GV in stronger side (max 25,000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Chairman Black Diamond – generate and maintain 30,000 GV in weaker side and 150,000 GV in stronger side (max 50,000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Ambassador Black Diamond – generate and maintain 30,000 GV in weaker side and 300,000 GV in stronger side (max 100,000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume
- Crown Diamond – generate and maintain 30,000 GV in weaker side and 500,000 GV in stronger side (max 125,000 GV from any one leg) monthly binary team volume, and recruit and maintain at least for Blue Diamond or higher ranked affiliates
In total there are 14 different ranks within Pure, which is a lot and does imply you’d need to recruit a ton within this company to succeed. Then again this is pretty much common practice amongst all MLM’s so it’s not all that surprising to me.
Do also keep in mind that your rank within the company will also determine the maximum income you’ll be able to generate with Pure. This means bronze directors will only be eligible to make upto $1k a week whilst only Presidential Black Diamond and higher ranked members will have no cap on their earnings.
Retail Commissions
The first way to make money with Pure is via the personal sales you make, otherwise known as retail commissions. Pure pays a 25% commission on sales to retail customers. Preferred customers will be eligible to make an extra 5% per sale.
Enrollment Bonus
A Pure affiliate will earn a commission from any Enrollment pack purchases that their direct recruits buy.
They’ll be able to make the following :
- recruit a 500 PV Enrollment Pack affiliate and receive $75
- recruit a 1500 PV Enrollment Pack affiliate and receive $300
There is a qualifying procedure to unlock the enrollment bonus, which asks that you do the following things :
- sign up with a 500 PV Enrollment Pack and then recruit two affiliates who do the same;
- sign up with a 1500 PV Enrollment Pack;
- recruit three affiliates who sign up with a 500 PV Enrollment Pack; or
- recruit one affiliate who signs up with a 1500 PV Enrollment Pack
Sponsor Bonus
The Sponsor Bonus is a 10% volume bonus on orders placed by personally recruited affiliates. The bonus applies towards a newly recruited affiliate’s first 90 days and is capped at $400.
Residual Commissions
This is going to be the primary way to make money with Pure and also one of the hardest ways so, you’ll need to really get good at this. Pure uses a binary structure through which you can earn residual commissions. This means you’ll be able to recruit 2 people, one on your left leg and one on your right.
The same thing applies to your personal recruits, their personal recruits and the number of individuals you’ll have within any given level can theoretically expand infinetly in the vertical sense.
As for how you earn money through this, at the end of the week Pure tallies up new sales volume on both sides of the binary team. A member will then be paid 10% of the sales volume generated on their weaker binary side. The remaining volume from the weaker binary side is matched with the stronger side and flushed.
Various Other Bonuses
There are also various other bonuses which are discussed in the compensation plan such as the generation bonus, leadership bonus, rank achievement bonus and lifestyle bonus. I’m not going to cover them now because they’re not really worth learning as a complete beginner.
However, if you’re still interested in learning them, click here or check out the video below

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS
You’ll Need To Be A Very Good Recruiter To Succeed
The truth is that all MLM’s including Pure require affiliates to be good at recruitment to succeed. The reason why I say this is because making 200 sales, making like $10 – $20 for each sale and having to do this every month is significantly harder than recruiting 20 individuals who make 10 – 20 sales a month and generate you similar profits.
Don’t get me wrong, retail commissions are definitely a solid way for a very small number of people, people with a decently large audience to achieve however, for the rest of us, it’s the harder of the two ways to succeed.
Therefore, if you aren’t already good at face to face or online marketing and aren’t already able to or aren’t willing to learn how to become good at recruitment, I’d recommend skipping out on Pure (or any other MLM for that matter) because you probably won’t find much success with it.
They Have A Shaky Past
As you know, Pure was initially called Genesis Pure and the only reason for the name change was because of the shaky past they had with the FTC and the $9 million fine. Of course the main culprit behind the lawsuit is now kicked out of the business however, this shaky past does make joining Pure a seem a little less trustworthy.
It’s An Expensive Company To Join
All the fees required to join and the monthly PV requirement does make joining Pure a very expensive endeavour to pursue. You could easily be looking at spending $1k – $2k/year simply to maintain your active status as a Pure consultant, which I’m sure isn’t a burden most would be willing to take on.
So yeah, this is a pretty big hurdle to jump for most and one of the main reasons why I’d suggest not joining Pure.
Most People Will Fail
Pure’s 2017 income disclosure statement shows that only the highest ranked members are making anything half decent with the company and to be completely honest with you, this isn’t very surprising at all.
As you can see in the above image only around 3.6% of members are making anything half decent, making an average of at least $5071 a year, whilst realistically only the top. 0.8% are making around $2k+ per month (around a full time income).
In short, the success rate within Pure isn’t very great therefore, if you do join, don’t expect to succeed.

THE GOOD THINGS
It’s Been Around A While
The fact pure is over 10 years old at this point is actually a very admirable achievement and gives the company a fair bit of credibility too.
Considering most companies tend to collapse within 10 years, Pure’s longevity definitely adds quite a lot of credibility to the company.

IS PURE A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?
The good news is that Pure is neither a pyramid scheme or a scam, it’s a legitimate MLM company that you could possibly find success through, provided you use the right strategies however, besides it longevity, there isn’t any reason why I’d personally recommend joining it.
The fact you need to be really good at recruiting to succeed, the company’s shaky past with the FTC, the really expensive costs to maintain your active status along with the really low success rate are a few reasons why I personally recommend skipping Pure.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION
I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).
Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.
This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.
The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because
– there is no need to recruit constantly
– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products
– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.
The service I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate. It’s free to sign up to and will get you set up and ready to start your affiliate marketing journey within minutes, as it did for me when I begun my journey.
If you have any questions that you would like to ask me regarding Pure , feel free to do so in the comments section below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you have your own thoughts about Pure and would like to talk about it, again feel free to do so in the comments below!
