You’re probably wondering if Ambit Energy is a solid money making option or just another pyramid scheme or a scam right?
Then you’re in the right place.
First and foremost I must commend you for actually doing a bit of extra research before committing to getting into Ambit Enrgy. For all you could have known, the products and services it provides may very well have been a scam so, doing that extra bit of research before purchasing is definitely the smart move on your part.
To be completely transparent with you I’m not an Ambit Energy Member so I can assure you that I will not attempt to sell you this product unless of course it’s worth investing in.
What I will aim to do is provide you with an unbiased 3rd party look at Ambit Energy that will hopefully help you to make the correct decision in the end.

SUMMARY: Ambit Energy is an energy provider that is also an MLM company. I like the fact that it’s relatively cheap to start and the fact it has a focus on providing eco-friendly energy sources to it’s clients but, there is quite a bit wrong with it. Firstly its compensation structure is poor, it has a lot of complaints about overcharging it’s clients, poor customer service and as of late they’ve had to deal with a class action lawsuit. The fact that Ambit Energy has this many problems ultimately leads to me recommending that maybe you shouldn’t join Ambit’s networking business.

WHAT IS AMBIT ENERGY?
Ambit energy is an MLM bases business that focuses on providing natural gas and electricity i.e energy sources to its clients in the US.
Thier aim as described within their website is to be ‘the finest and most-respected retail energy provider in America, offering cost-effective choices for today’s energy consumer.‘
It’s a fair game plan and is definitely worth striving for and to their credit they have been raking in a decent amount of profit in their recent years however, all these may look good on the surface but the whole reason as to why you’re here is to find out if it’s a good enough business opportunity for you.
Afterall the main reason as to why Ambit Energy is successful is due to its members so, if you become a member I’m sure you’ll want a little slice for yourself too.
But first if you do decide to join, what exactly would you be getting for your money in the member’s area…

WHAT IS INSIDE AMBIT ENERGY’S MEMBERSHIP AREA?
First of all if you decide to join Ambit Energy and become a member you will be automatically regarded as a an independent contractor or a consultant, I’ll get back to how you can become a consultant (if you really want to) but first let’s discuss the packages and services Ambit provides.
1. Commercial Services
Ambit have commercial business experts within their system that help people or clients save money by not paying unnecessarily high fees and so on.
2. Ambit Energy & Green-e Energy
As can be suggested by its name, the Green-e energy source is a source of energy provided through Ambit that is better for the environment and in turn will not be anywhere near as harmful as the current energy sources.
As global warming of course is a pretty real thing (I think…) it makes sense that Ambit is also partaking in this sector of the energy market however there is a little negative to this for specific people out there…
These green plans are only limited to certain areas, this means that you may lose out on some recruits that were probably interested in the green plan alone.
3. Solar Savings
The 3rd thing they offer is solar panels or solar savings option. This is also a more environmentally conscious energy source but just like the green plan it is also limited to very small number of states that Ambit energy works within.
I believe it’s only available in 6 of the 17 states that Ambit functions within. Of course they have other sources available but for the environmentally considerate recruits that aren’t located within the 7 states as an Ambit Energy consultant, you’d be losing out.
DOES AMBIT ENERGY SUPPLY QUALITY PRODUCTS?
This depends, as Ambit Energy are a company that doesn’t necessarily deal in physical products but instead energy sources, most of their quality will be dependent on their service.
From what I have found, the service provided to customers is a mixed bag.
A few individuals such as Rocky from consumer affairs has said that the service provided has been good and that they have managed to save $3500.
This other individual named Kristen from logamsport has also said Ambit has saved her money but, although certain clients have found the product budget friendly and what not, others seem to disagree quite drastically.
R from Garland has said that although they have saved some money in some months, in other months especially in the summer months, the bills charged are double if not triple the price of the “normal” months.
Barb from Mchenry also states that although Ambit Energy might save you a little bit, if you don’t take note of the postcards they send, you might suddenly discover that you’re getting charged for something you werent even aware of.
In my opinion I would say that the products as in the natural gas and electricity service are good but the customer service and “hidden fees” might dissuade you from actually joining Ambit Energy’s scheme.
HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY THROUGH THE PRODUCT
If you’re truly interested in Ambit Energy and wish to become their consultant, their will be essentially 2 ways to make money through Ambit Energy, just like most other MLM’s
1. You sell the products Ambit provides and make a commission for every sale
2. You recruit people and have them make money for you as well as be eligible for rewards and bonuses from Ambit Energy due to the recruiting.
HOW TO GET STARTED
There is pretty much 3 steps that you have got to take in order to become a member, firstly you’ve got an upfront fee and secondly you’ve got to pay a monthly fee to keep membership active.
To become a consultant you have to register through their website and they will give access to one of their consultants through whom you can register to become a consultant yourself.
After you’ve registered you have to pay the upfront fee which will run you back $75, which is actually a helluva lot cheaper than it used to be before at admittedly steep fee of $429.
The monthly fee to keep your website and in turn your membership on air will set you back $24.95.
So overall you aren’t looking to pay an insane fee to get started with this MLM company unlike LuLaroe and so on.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
Once you become a member, you’ll definitely want to figure out how exactly you would go about making money so, that’s where you’ve got to understand how their compensation structure works and also how exactly Ambit energy will pay you.
First and foremost Ambit energy utilises an MLM structure know as a binary structure, this is a pretty common structure where you will need to have a minimum of 2 downlines underneath you (your direct referrals) to actually be eligible for any kind of payment.
Jump Start Bonus
the first bonus that you will be eligible to earn is the jump start bonus. In this bonus you will have 4 weeks to gain 5 customer points ; if you manage to do so you will make a jump start bonus of $100.
Thankfully Ambit does not require this of you to actually remain active but there is kind of an aura of pay to play from Ambit although not something I would personally consider to be too huge a deal.
In order to actually get the 5 points if you were interested, setting up your business website account and becoming a customer of Ambit yourself will give you 3 points, this means that you will need to sign up 2 new customers within 4 weeks to get the bonus.
your are eligible for upto $400 from the jumpstart bonus within a period of 12 weeks.
Leadership Income Bonus
Another money source that you will also be eligible for is a matched jumpstart bonus. So basically, if one of your referrals manages to acquire a jumpstart bonus of their own,Ambit Energy will match the value of that bonus with you.
This means that you can essentially make an unlimited amount of money through just jump start bonuses. one thing to note is that this is only limited to your direct referrals .
Beyond the jump start bonuses, as is the case with pretty much all MLM based businesses , Ambit have their own ranking hierarchy too.
in the beginning of your membership within Ambit, you start of as a marketing consultant, in order to make money through their leadership scheme, you will need to gain customer points.
Of course, in order to advance in rank you will need to gain some points which will likely be done through recruitment or selling some of Ambit Energy’s packages. there are a total 5 levels including a marketing consultant through which you’re eligible for $240 in bonuses if you reach the highest level.
what this means is that if you are at the highest level within Ambit energy (National Consultant) for every jumpstart bonus that your direct downlines generate, you will make $340. This is a pretty steep jump from only receiving a $100 as a marketing consultant.
But as we all should already know this is no easy feat to accomplish.
Customer Residual Income
The third way through which you can earn money is through customer residual income. How it works is that everytime that you manage to sign up a customer or one of your downlines signs up a new customer you will be eligible up to $1.00 in residual income. of course the $1.00 residual is only available to a National consultant.
The level above a Marketing consultant will earn $0.25 whilst the one above that will earn $0.50 up to a maximum of $1.00 in customer residual income as a National Consultant.
Residual Income
This is as close to passive income as Ambit’s compensation plan gets. you will be eligible to earn 5 cents for every customer directly below you who are signed up to Ambit Energy package but if you have 7 levels beneath you, you will be eligible for up $6 dollars from your 7th level referral depending on their energy usage .
This residual income is paid out in a monthly basis. when looking at these figures they do seem very tiny ; even as some one with 7 levels you will earn a maximum of 6 bucks. This would mean that you would need to have a helluva lot of people underneath you to making anything worth making.
Recruitment in and of itself is already pretty hard so the fact you’ll need to recruit quite a lot of people to really make anything half decent should and probably will put a lot of newbies from joining.
I certainly don’t see the appeal

THE NOT SO GOOD THINGS
Let’s Be Honest The Compensation Plan Is Sub Par At Best
I’ve outlined more or less everything that the Ambit offers its consultants in regards to the money area and to be honest with you it really isn’t all that impressive.
I guess the bonuses are pretty decent but when looking at how low the residual income will be as a new consultant ( a measly $0.30!), I can’t see why someone would opt in for Ambit Energy.
Even as the highest level consultant you will only make a max of $6 dollars from your 7th downline member, you would need a few hundred customers to even begin considering quitting your job or anything of the sort.
I already am not a big fan of MLM’s but what I can say is that even I consider this compensation plan to be sub par at best.
Only Operate In Limited Areas
This may prove a problem for many as Ambit Energy operate in a very small number of states within the USA, I believe that it is only within 17 states.
They do not even operate in every state within USA so it’s easy to guess that they also probably don’t operate anywhere outside of the US too.
If you’re interested in Ambit Energy’s packages or their marketing consultant opportunity ; if you’re not located within those 17 states, it means there’s no way you’ll be able to really benefit from Ambit’s schemes.
Lawsuits…
Yes Ambit has been involved in a few lawsuits, in fact as of March 2018 they settled a law suit totaling at hefty sum of $26.5 million, damn that’s a lot of money and the fact they didn’t decide to go any further with the case to disapprove what they were to get prosecuted for either means they don’t feel it’s necessary or Ambit are hiding something.
I know that a lot of people are complaining about the things that are mentioned in the lawsuit such as being overcharged for things the customers didn’t know meaning their savings guaranteed stuff doesn’t even apply.
That’s why I feel that when a company, especially an MLM company is involved in a class action lawsuit, it’s probably not worth doing business with them as of now…and probably ever…
Many Complaints Against the Business
I’ve already discussed a couple of these complaints previously within this review and I understand that complaints are bound to occur with any large corporation out there but Ambit Energy seems to get a lot more complaints than a solid trustworthy company should.
This may be a solid reason to avoid Ambit and is probably why I’d suggest you avoid it too. It appears especially with the ratings that Ambit Energy is receiving, there’s a one in 2 chance that someone has a bad experience with either their services or their MLM business.
No Income Disclosure
An income disclosure statement is a very important thing for MLM companies to show, they need to be transparent and actually give the people out there a rough idea of how everyone involved within the company is doing.
Other MLM companies such LuLaroe or Isagenix seem to have income disclosures and the situation for both is that their members aren’t really making much with the model bar the few exceptions.
To me this suggests that their numbers are terrible so showing the public exactly what their consultants are making monthly or yearly would jeopardise Ambits’s whole ploy.
The lack of an income disclosure definitely doesn’t suggest anything good so maybe joining Ambit Energy wouldn’t do you any good too.
THE GOOD THINGS
Despite the negatives there are a couple good things regarding Ambit Energy.
They Provide Renewable Energy Sources
Ambit’s whole gig is to provide energy sources to their clients so the fact that they have opted to provide it’s clients with climate friendly, eco-friendly sources such as solar panels etc. Shows that at least they care about the environment.
It is definitely a good thing in my opinion to act against global warming by providing more renewable energy sources that don’t produce harmful gasses for the atmosphere.
It’s Fairly Cheap
Relatively speaking regarding other MLM products I would say that it is definitely a lot cheaper than its other MLM competition. The total cost to run an Ambit Energy business for a year will only set you back $374.40.
considering the thousands of dollars it requires to run some other MLM businesses out there, you’ll have to agree with me in saying that Ambit is relatively cheap.

IS THE AMBIT ENERGY A PYRAMID SCHEME/SCAM?
No Ambit Energy is neither a pyramid scheme or a scam. Even though it is neither a pyramid scheme or a scam I simply can’t recommend it to.
For one its compensation structure is fairly poor, it really pushes the idea of recruitment which is always a major red flag in any MLM company, although I do understand its necessary, it’s just not the best way in 2018 to be making money online or off.
In general I just can’t recommend joining an MLM company, a lot of the time, the people at the top are the ones really benefitting the most financially through systems like Ambit and they are usually pushing the idea on you to join too.
To be fair, the products aren’t too bad and they do get the job done but even just simply signing up for an energy package could hit you with unexpected costs especially if you aren’t diligent on keeping track of everything.
Instead, if you’re looking to make money online I’ll suggest looking elsewhere such as my recommendation below.
MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION
I personally will always recommend against using a MLM business model to make money, not because you can’t make money through it (you totally can) but, the system has always seemed shady to myself and is kinda synonymous with the likes of a pyramid scheme or scams (MOBE and Digital altitude).
Instead I prefer working with something created through ones own means and is ultimately dependent on yourself and your work ethic alone.
This method I’m talking about is affiliate marketing.
The reasons as to why I recommend it over MLM based structures are because
– there is no need to recruit constantly
– it is a legitimate method that has been working consistently and continues to grow as more businesses want individuals to promote products
– and because it is free to start up, no unnecessarily large start up funds needed.
