If you are starting an affiliate marketing business, you should be aware of the fact that reviewing and recommending products will play a huge role in terms of the income you’ll receive.

That’s why in this post I will show you how to write an affiliate product review effectively via, what I deem to be an awesome philosophy for writing content.

WHAT IS AN AFFILIATE PRODUCT?

If you don’t know what an affiliate product or how affiliate marketing works, allow me to enlighten you…

An affiliate product/service is an item that companies will pay out commissions for if you manage to make a sale.

Essentially what happens is that these companies get free publicity through the recommendation that bloggers and product analyists/ reviewers provide, for the promise of a commission if they manage a sale.

The reason why these companies can actually pay out a commission is through the use of a very popular scheme known as an affiliate scheme or an affiliate program.

You must be asking,  how do these companies pay the right amount to their affiliates and how do they know who to pay the commission to?

Well that can be answered pretty easily. It’s through the use of an affiliate link.

Each and every individual will be provided with their own unique affiliate link that will allow companies to pinpoint the owner of the link as well as allow them to track whose link customers bought the affiliate product through.

This means that your own unique affiliate link will be a crucial tool for companies to know for sure who made a sale and are in turn entitled to commissions associated with tye product.

WHAT WRITING STRATEGY SHOULD YOU FOLLOW TO WRITE A AWESOME AFFILIATE PRODUCT REVIEW?

Now it’s time for me to dig into the meat of this post. I’m sure you’re wondering what strategy or better yet, philosophy I follow to write awesome review posts.

The strategy I’m talking about is broken in to four areas of crucial importance. The acronym for this writing philosophy is what I like to call the CIAO philosophy.

CIAO as I’ve said already is broken into 4 elements needed to write quality product reviews and probably all content in general. The 4 letters stand for captivating, informative, accurate and opinionated

How To Be Captivating

What I mean by captivating is that the review should be of value and be interesting. If you aren’t able to capture the interest of your audience within the first paragraph (preferably as soon as possible) , you shouldn’t then expect people to stick around and read the rest of your content even if it is the best thing since sliced bread.

Let’s be real, the hardest part of the entire process  is actually managing to get people to click on your affiliate product review. If you can’t manage to even keep the traffic around for the first paragraph then that would be a waste of an opportunity.

To be captivating, I believe you should write as if you’re writing to a friend. You should explain the product/service to them, the good parts and the not so good elements of the product (if there are any).  Finally, you should come to an honest conclusion by stating the possible benefits of having the product over not having it.

I’ve previously mentioned that you should try to grip the audience within the first paragraph however, that’s not exactly the only area within your review that you should focus on.  The captivation can in fact start with the use of a ‘strong’ title before also being implemented into strong headings.

What a strong title and strong headings do is keep your readers engaged. This is done by telling your readers the basics of what your going to talk about before really diving into the topic mentioned in the heading. It’ll make your readers want to stick around.

What Is An Informative Post?

Simply, if you don’t give your readers enough content to aid then in making an informed decision on purchasing a product (either to buy or not to buy the product/service),then don’t be surprised if a lot of your readers go elsewhere to do better research.

With the lack of a good informative review, you will have lost out on an opportunity to make money which is definitely something we don’t want to lose out on.

To avoid a large number of situations where traffic bounces from your affiliate product review, you should be sure to write material that is very informative. The review should ideally be at a level where the comprehensiveness of the writing allows a reader to make a confident decision on whether or not the product/service is worth purchasing.

By being comprehensive and thorough with your reviews, you may very well offer help to the extent that your readers  begin to trust and feel comfortable with the words you write, which may even lead to the readers coming back to you for reviews on other posts, which is definitely without a shadow of a doubt what all reviews are aiming for.

In terms of the minimum words per review, I would say that you should stick with atleast 1000 words per post. However, if you hit 1000 words you shouldn’t just sttop writing. Instead, I would suggest you continue writing until you feel like the review is a comprehensive enough experience for your readers.

Why You Should Always Be Accurate

You should always try to write your reviews accurately. Always make sure that when you are in the process of writing a review that you base it on factual information. What you don’t want to do is be in situation where you are making stuff up or creating a fabricated story.

If you want to do further research into a product in order to find the correct facts, you can do it with the use of the Internet. We all know how great the internet is in providing information that’s why it is the best place to conduct research. The places through which you can do further research on product is through:

  • Researching it on the product website or sales channels
  • Your own experience with the product (if you have tried it)
  • Forums and online discussion platforms
  • Youtube, Vimeo, and other video platforms
  • Through other bloggers and industry authority websites
  • Communicating directly with others that have tried it

As you can see there are a ton of ways that you can do accurate research on a product, that’s why I don’t see why you can’t write product reviews with factual and accurate information.

Don’t Be Afraid To Be A Little Opinionated

And lastly with every product review you should have your own opinion on the product. Whether your opinion is positive or whether it’s negative, your opinion matters and will more than likely play a huge role in the branding of your website.

If you feel certain parts of a product are great, don’t be afraid to say that that area is great. On the other hand, if you come to realise that another area of the product is horrible, once again don’t be afraid to say that it’s horrible! Your opinions will make your content unique and allow your readers to look at a product through someone else’s eyes.

The reason why a lot of people do research on a product through a review is so that they can know whether other people who’ve used the product, approve or disapprove of it. They want to know if the product is fit for them.

That’s why, If you’ve followed the other steps of giving an accurate and informative review,  you shouldn’t doubt yourself, instead you should feel confident in the fact that you’ve given your own honest and unique perspective on a product.

Furthermore, by stating your own opinions on a product, it’ll make the review a more interesting read for your audience and if the review is captivating, readers are more likely to stick around and finish it.

I think for a lot of bloggers and affiliates, they struggle to write reviews on products or services because they don’t know what type of information to include.

I also hate it when bloggers write “biased” reviews that provide no value, just so they can make a quick buck.

Also as a blogger myself, I appreciate the 4 areas you’ve highlighted because you’ve given me plenty of insights that I can implement into my own product reviews.

I think an important area is definitely the “accuracy” part because fabricated information can certainly damage bloggers’ reputations and credibility, etc.

Yeah I understand where you are coming from Neil. There are definitely a lot of bloggers that don’t review products to help others but purely for the possibility of getting themselves a quick cashout.

That is why i believe that these 4 crucial areas should be implemented into every review that you write in order to be trustworthy to your readers as well stay away from the biased quick cashout frame.
